    Evening gents  :D

The simple answer is to get an MOT the tester needs to run the bike & then its back to the basics of, steering/suspension……… lights……..brakes, thats what the 3 triangles in the MOT sign stand for by the way  ;)

There isnt any real short cut & VOSA are pretty hot on dodgy testers who try it on !

Been a while since ive done this but from memory i had to get a dating certificate from an owners club, then have the bike looked over at the local dvla centre who simply checked it was what i said on the application (numbers etc) then had to show valid insurance & have the tax money to hand there & then, think i’d already mot’d the bike on the frame number the v5 & tax was sent out within a couple of weeks

As i said its been a while so check with your local dvla or vosa office to be sure, they were very helpfull in my case (stock grey import) but expect hassle if its not stock cos they wont know what theyre looking at & may ask for an sva

    Hi Pete

Lights are NOT a requirement under mot law….. the mot law states that any vehicle can be mot’d without lights, this includes a brake light but if any lights are fitted you must have all the ones required for that year of bike

Decal on the can is fairly normal…. i cant remove it so cant fail it for having “not for road use” etc stamped on it …..BUT i can fail it if i think its too noisy, sticker or not, all down to my ‘earole

A speedo is NOT a requirement for a bike mot but you can get nicked for using it on the road without one under the road traffic act 1988 so most testers will give an advisory to cover their own ass

A stand is NOT a requirement for an mot

You do need an Audible warning (horn) depends on the year of the bike wether it has to be electric or can be a bulb horn

A reflector is needed, no size is specified so we keep a card of 1″ round pushbike ones handy  ;D

Plate depends on the tester & wether youve taken the pee too much with the other stuff tbh

& no none of it surprises me its stuff we deal with on a almost daily basis …. hope it helps

1100 zzr stuff isnt a direct fit to the 900 or rx but it can be done by opening out the crankcases to accept the bigger barrels …… you can use the rx head with this setup & keep the rx carbs or in a different frame use the zzr doundraft carbs

Yep i agree with imperialdata, it does sound like a fuel problem a misfire (properly called afterfire) is an indication of incorrect mixture (usually weak) carbs need stripping & cleaning properly then setting up to stock spec & balancing, presuming the bike is standard on both intake & exhaust sides this should sort the problem.

Hi benji, first off the bandit is quite a heavy bike with a lot of torque i’d be a little worried about putting that through an ally rim & spokes designed for a lot less power/ weight, i honestly dont know if the wheel etc will take it for very long but i’d certainally check it out very carefully before trying

Re chains & sprockets … a decent 520 chain with a high tensile strength can be stronger than a cheep 530 with a lower tensile strength so it you use something like a did o ring chain i cant see a problem there, whare you are going to meet a problem is a 45 tooth (for example) rear sprocket in 530 will be a different dia than a 45 tooth in 520 so your gearing will be off by quite a way.

Some early kawasaki front sprockets will fit the suzuki splines but wether you can get them in 520 i’m not sure, rg sprockets will make you any size sprocket to any fitting pattern from theire stock of blanks & are not overly expensive.

Please contact talon & check out if that wheel will take the power before you go any further tho mate, i do have serious doubts

Hi guys & girls, ive been having trouble getting on here again due to my broardband provider being taken over, hopefully its sorted now.

The bike is now on ebay with a start price of £3000 & around 4 days to run i can see us taking a BIG hit on this :-(

zx10 motor isnt any good for my project radar as the downdraft carbs would be a pain to fit in the frame

only got one project at the moment (unstarted) old kwak frame some modern running gear & am on the look out for a gpz900 or 1000rx motor so stick in it :-)
