barmy_carmyParticipantSame here always stop to find out, But there are two of us. Bit of a sad state of affairs these days, that you cant trust even your fellow biker cause of fear of what might happen. I know this is the times we live in, there wasnt that fear 25 yrs ago, bikers felt they were part of a big family. I grew up in times of Mods and Rockers, then Greasers and Skinheads. But me personally I always treat my fellow bikers with respect as I would expect in return. My motto is treat people how they treat you!

barmy_carmyParticipantHi gixerchic, Cheers for the welcome me dear! I have read quite a few of your posts. Its nice to meet a fellow speed freak! Although I’m only the pillion, Dave my hubby is the pilot. But when he opens that throttle up I am grinning from ear to ere! And after Tuesday (derestriction day) it will go even faster! And I cant wait. I used to be very much a night owl, But Medication for Arthritis wont allow me to stay awake. I dont know if anyones around 6pm -7pm say if not this Sunday. Not next Sunday, hope to be going to Shepton Mallet bike show. or say Wed about that time. But remind me, As ID has probably already found out, I am a little forgetful, so I really do live up to my name!

barmy_carmyParticipantOOh speedyclaire thats how you lost your beloved CBR, unlucky. Well there has been a couple of incidents for me. the first was doing 80mph on dual carriageway, at that time i had one of those open faced helmets with a clear visor, Dave ducked and a woodpigeon flew straight in my face and broke the visor clean off. On the second occasion were’nt going that fast. about 40mph we were overtaking a tanker lorry got halfway along the tanker, he suddenly turns right into a lane, So it was Daves quick thinking to drop the bike, if he’d carry’d on would have smashed straight into the tanker, thew**ker didn’t signal or look in his mirrors, But he was totally unaware of us, Dave went down where he dropped, the bike skidded down the rd about 100yrds, and I went for a roly poly several hundred yards, There was a bloke running down the rd waving at the tanker to stop, and I missed the tankers back wheels by only an inch, good job I had all my leathers on as I have a spinal arthritis. then lost conciousness for a few minutes with a policewoman peering over me. My first words were “is the bike alright?” She said what is it with you 2 ,your husbands just asked the same question, then I asked about Dave. Well anyway we got carted off to hospital in an ambulance. they wanted to keep me in, I said no way I’ll get better at home. But we were both lucky got away with cuts and bruises, And so did the bike, just twisted mirrors and a bit of a dent in the tank, and a f….d up footrest.

barmy_carmyParticipantPersonally I think it should be personal choice, I was around in the days of no helmets, but bikes are a lot faster these days, personally If I had the choice I would wear a helmet, I had lost a lot of biker friends in the past in the days of no helmets! I wish this country was not so biker unfriendly.Mind you saying that, a big hand to Poole Council, In season they shut off Poole Quay to cars, and every Tuesday between 6pm – 10pm is strictly for bikes only. In the height of summer literally thousands of bikes line the whole of Poole quay. You pay £1 to park your bike and all the money is donated to charity!

barmy_carmyParticipantHi cookeye, good to know that the family are into their bikes. I was only 4yrs old when my dad gave me a ride on his Matcheless.Throughout my life I’ve been around the biking scene. I recently discovered, that my Grandad was a biker, and my aunt and uncle are currently travelling around New Zealand on a motorbike. So you could say its in the blood! My husband is the pilot of our FZX 750.

barmy_carmyParticipantI used to have a Yamaha 50cc US custom moped, it had little apehanger bars, and was shaft driven.
Somebody commented I looked like a barbie doll on it, must have had shit in his eyes! I could get 40miles ph on it ……….Downhill of course. But I prefer to be on a bigger bike, I like speed! Got bored with moped.No1 ride, our FZX750
barmy_carmyParticipantThe FZX 750 is definately underated, it is a good all rounder! Is classed as a streetfighter. Its not to bad on long hauls the minus is that its only got small fuel tank. But you can also open her up and shes good on bends etc.
