Come on Radar – stay loyal to the best – Yamaha.

Its true Sidevalve that I have dallied with Honda and even considered a Suzuki on occasion.
However I am at heart a Yam man. I want to be brave and buy a Ducati or Guzzi, but just keeping coming home on a Yam.
Seriously the CB250RS I own is an ace little bike, easily the best four stroke 250 of the early 80s.

Time to go for it, good old fashioned speed. I pulled back on the throttle and just accelerated, then just as I hit 88mph the Flux Capacitor kicked in, there was a blinding flash and I was in 1955…

As you say daft name, but my 600 Yam is called Thundercat. Wot is all that about???
At least names like Ninja and Hayabusa mean something.

I like Hayabusa because it’s Japanese for Perigrin Falcon (excuse my spelling here[xx(]), which prey on Blackbirds. A neat link to Honda’s CBR1100XX Superblackbird!!

Download the Nutty Hayabusa video clip off the site if you get a chance it is mind blowing.

Anyway as you say the BROS is a decent bike. Called hawk in the US. Much Cooler!!

Happy biking and welcome to the site.

Wouldn’t have this trouble with a Yam!!!

Just thought i’d chuck a meaty quote in. Nicked from Graham Parker and The Rumour (who) from about 1978!!

Yep, basically the registration of the vehicle must relate to its year of manufacture, hence the K plate.

Where date of manufacture can’t be determined they allocated a Q plate.
Not sure if this is still the case since the new registration system came in…does anybody else know?

Either way, good luck and I will be supporting the place when it re-opens.

    UPDATE 19/09/04:
IN THE MIDLANDS PRESS OVER THIS WEEKEND NEWS THAT IN ADDITION TO THE 450 BIKES THAT ELUDED THE FIRE, A FURTHER 150 BIKES HAVE EITHER BEEN OBTAINED OR RESTORED IN THE LAST YEAR.
AN INCREDIBLE EFFORT THAT MEANS SOMETHING LING 600 BIKES WILL BE ON DISPLAY TO CELEBRATE BRITISH BIKING.
GOT TO BE SUPPORTED WHEN IT OPENS AGAIN IN A COUPLE OF MONTHS.

PS: A SPRINKLER SYSTEM HAS BEEN FITTED AFTER ALL!!

Not great to admit this but most of my bikes (and cars) have been given names:
CB100N = ROG, cos of the reg number
RD350YPVS = Nena – after the German lass with hairy armpits who sang “99 Red Balloons” in 1985.
and my current CB250RS is called Minnie Mouse by my kids because it has round mirrors!
    There you go.

I think this was an official Honda UK model. What you might have is a parallel import. Basically a model of bike sold in the UK but not imported by the official franchise. My T Cat is a parallel import.

My worst was a 1978 Kawasaki KH250B5 that I hand in 1986 for a while.

About as dependable as Arthur Daley or Del Boy!!

For the 15 mins at a time I could get it to run properly it was lovely.

Most of the time – junk. Broke down 3 or 4 times in 7 miles once!!

The centrestand collapsed etc etc etc etc

Never had another Kwak…now Yamahas..another story altogether!
