The owner Roy Richards (coincidentally he was my Dad’s boss for 20 years), plans to rebuilt and be open again in only 14 months. But he doesn’t plan to fit a sprinkler system! He reckons it could damage the bikes! So the fire was just messing about then?
Either way, good luck and I will be supporting the place when it re-opens.

    UPDATE 19/09/04:
IN THE MIDLANDS PRESS OVER THIS WEEKEND NEWS THAT IN ADDITION TO THE 450 BIKES THAT ELUDED THE FIRE, A FURTHER 150 BIKES HAVE EITHER BEEN OBTAINED OR RESTORED IN THE LAST YEAR.
AN INCREDIBLE EFFORT THAT MEANS SOMETHING LING 600 BIKES WILL BE ON DISPLAY TO CELEBRATE BRITISH BIKING.
GOT TO BE SUPPORTED WHEN IT OPENS AGAIN IN A COUPLE OF MONTHS.

PS: A SPRINKLER SYSTEM HAS BEEN FITTED AFTER ALL!!

The countdown to it opening is on. Should be fully opening again on the first of December, although some conference facilities are open now.

Sprinklers have got to be better than flames, most bikes are waterproof up to a point aren’t they? But flameproof? Crappy decisions like that get my goat!

They are in Solihull, West Midlands. Check out their site, it has a map and address.

Or you could always follow the fire engines…..
