Just been out on my T cat for the first time in ages. Knocked up 60 enjoyable miles heading over to Brum and back to meet up with some mates. One has an old Z550 Kaawasaki and Yam SRX400. he let me out on both! Great fun! No biking for ages – then 3 in one night.
I presume many memebers are out on holiday somewhere, if it was on a bike let us know how it went. I havn’t done any touring for years (1987) and need some ideas.
Look forward to hearing your tales Cookeye.
[]RadarModeratorI know the feeling – I am more Goldwing size these days! [:o)]
RadarModeratorA friend of mine used one for a number of years in Birmingham and was very pleased with it.[]
I used to work for Metzeler (not the part that made bike tyres) and a colleague had a RS250 which looked fantastic, but he wouldn’t let me ride it!![}]Anybody out there ride an Aprillia and has any information on what they are like to own?[?][?]
RadarModeratorThe first bike I rode was an off roader, a DT175MX Yamaha, when I was 16 – it was a proper off road bike, but it was illegal – no MOT or tax. That was over 20 years ago and I never ridden off rode since, must put that right soon!!
RadarModerator[}][xx(]I am just worried that I remembered the A3K bit…
RadarModeratorLike the long post Cookeye! Cheers for the info and the background. Sound like a good crowd. as for the bikes I like 600 Hornets having ridden a Demo bike from C J Balls (near Hales on the Lowestoft road) a few years back.Reminded me of a really quick, well sorted Yamaha RD250E. Sounds weird, but they do. Bandits are brilliant. If you read my post “Try These” on good roads I mentioned my mate who rides a BMW. Before that he had 600 Bandit and he used to fly on it. Cracking tool. Sort of a later day GS550 with a bit of fie in its belly.
It won’t be this summer now but I will try and get down to East Anglia on the bike next year. Having a few employment problems at the moment. Working as a contractor on some short term work right now. need to get that sorted.
As you say all this from from a post about a bacon roll!!
[]RadarModeratorGlad to spark a little debate, and as Wheelie said it is all down to personal choice.
Chucking it down today! Just too dam wet!!
I’d love to tour Europe on the bike and chucked away a great opportunity to just that in 1986. Now my kids are that bit older i hope to get over the water a bit in the next few years.
RadarModeratorHighly impressive service service Imp dat!! Perhaps I ought to change my name to Rotund!
I really should be doing more useful stuff…..YES YOU SHOULD!!
RadarModeratorGlad you guys had a good ride, what were the other two bikes? Did you know Chris before Forum99 then?
I hope to get down to East Anglia at some point on the T Cat, can I come out for a play too?
Quick message to Imp Dat – Forum99.co.uk/BaconButty – how about it?
[:o)][]
RadarModeratorFair point on the personal choice, I am just concerned for people thats all. Wife is a nurse and has seen the outcome a few times in the past.
Still way too hot even in T shirts!!
If it cools down I’ll head out somewhere early Sunday morning on the T Cat.
RadarModeratorChris,
If you ever feel tempted back to the “Dark Side” and really NEED a Bacon butty check out Dorrells Cafe in Stourport on Severn. Bacon Egg Mushroom on crusty bread!! I have one there every time I pop into the bike shop next door.

RadarModeratorDo you want to know about my burn’t leg? Well basically I used to park my GS550 up around the back of the small Barrett built rabbit hutch (very small modern house for non UK members), I then called home. This was a tricky move down a narrow path and then a 90° turn up my own garden path. I had to ride the bike as there was no room to push it. Anyway one night I was tucking the GS away for the night and just as I made the turn I catch my waterproofs on next door’s fence and over falls the bike. One four into one exhaust collector box on my leg with the engine still running… Now I know what it is like to be branded. Yes we do smell like pork when cooked! Much pain for ages, couldn’t even walk for a week. Boy do I feel sorry for people who get badly burnt – 18 years on still have the scars!
[][xx(][!][V]RadarModeratorFeel free to hi-jack. Glad you enjoyed the miles, should be up in Wales over the weekend on the Thundercat with the wife on the back (rare event – she is normally ON my back!!).
RadarModeratorComtora,
Sorry about all the cameras. We do protest but it does not seem to do any good. I heard on the TV news for my region of the UK (The Midlands), that a camera was attacked with a chainsaw and another set on fire too!
We have lots of networks to warn each other about them, like this forum, but the government loves all the money it gets from fines, £60 each time or roughly 100 euros!!There is a link in this section to an excellent Dutch site.
Anybody konow of a UK site for protesting?
Hope that it did not spoil your visit, did you come on your Fireblade and where do you go, any bike related place?
RadarModeratorI’m glad that somebody has cleared that one up, but I thought the answer was 42!
