Saw on a custom site yesterday, some guy riding round wearing a ww1 german helmet , the one with the spike out of the top – now that’s cool – i want one [:p]

matt black is good, the flatter the better. If its not flat enough i was gonna brush some blackboard paint on which was why i wanted to know about painting. So far google has come up with arguments for and against painting, isnt it always the case so i’m still none the wiser!

Well a few mods and now she really is finished. I had to straighten the original bars and put them back on as dead straight bars kill your wrists after about 15 minutes – now i know why drag bars have a set in the end. The oher addition was the barbed wire round the headlight although i can see lots of other bits and pieces getting tacked on yet [

That’s the bike i’m currently ratting! , dont suppose you got a spare rear caliper, rear brake pedal , pickup cover or gear lever with it did you? Also, i got a 85 frame with v5, clocks, front fairing and metalwork , back end plastics (light indicators etc) plus a few other bits i cant remember right now spare if you need any

personal opinion – noisy starting, as long as it starts no problem, haven’t they got a kcik start anyway if the starter fails. Downpipes and a wheel should be available from breakers or ebay and by gasket do you mean head or exhaust, either way not a massive job. How cheap is it, if its a bargain then i’d have it, but use these faults to try and get some more cash off

Just reading this they sound expensive! , you gotta bear in mind i just paid sixty quid for my bike, i dont wanna be paying more than a tenner for a lid LOL

Try loosening the petrol cap, if it runs a treat then the hole in the top that lets air in and therefore petrol out the bottom is blocked starving the bike of petrol. If you cant clean it out drill a hole in the cap and fit a piece of fish tank tubing into it and ty-rap the other end to the handlebars

theres a quote on one of the ratbike sites, i cant quite remember it but its something like Chrome wont get you home but matt black always gets you back!
and its a lot less cleaning – more beer time !
