Oh God!
RadarModeratorInteresting combination, I especially like the XT, always had a soft spot for those.
Quads sound fun, do you ever ride one?RadarModeratorWhat a stunning read Diablo! My vote for the best post on the site so far. You have a real talent, try to get published if you can.
I send my work to small UK magazines that encourage their readers to contribute.

Good luck!
RadarModeratorI will pass this on to a neighbour who has just rebuilt a SFC
RadarModeratorIn 1984 I had a 1980 RD250LC, one the first ones made. Really good fun, big kick at 6,000rpm all over by 9,000rpm. Good for about 105mph and could kick up with most 550cc bikes.
In 1985 I had a virtually new RD350YPVS in red, white and blue. Fantastic bike.
In 1987 it was the turned of an RD250E aircooled. Didn’t have it very long, but it went well. They sold a 400cc version in the UK that flew and popped great wheelies.
Finally in 1989 I had a brand new RD350F2 YPVS. This had a full fairing , but wasn’t as exciting to ride as the 1985 model. Now I own a 600cc four stroke bike, but want another screaming 2 stroke! Maybe a RD500LC this time!
RadarModeratorTry to get up there at least once a year. Well worth it, good variet of bikes there usually and some reasonable bike clothing ans related assecory shops too.
Went up last on the Thundercat with mates on Bandit 1200, Honda Valerdero, BMW K75S, Yam SRX400 and Kwack ZXR750. Quite a variety just there!RadarModeratorI don’t have a gynaecologist!
RadarModeratorLove the flames!
RadarModeratorWelcome to the Forum, where can we download this from? Its sounds great.
RadarModeratorDefinately a interesting subject, to my knowledge Yamaha FZR1000 (Rocket), Honda Blackbird, Kawasaki ZX12/ZZR1100 and Busa engines have been used in a variety of cars. There have already been a couple of twin engined attempts with Kwack engines I think.
How about a V8 from two Busa engines? Now that would FLY!!
Back in the 1980’s Yamaha RD500 engines were used in some specialist hill climb cars. I think the RG500 too but I am not sure.
They have been bikes with car engines, usually American Chevvy V8 or the Rover 3.5 V8 (itself an old Buick design). Though these are usually heavy and cumbersome to ride and seem a bit pointless to me.
One mad Aussie even loped 2 cylinders from a WW2 Rolls Royce V12 Merlin engine that had seen service in a Mosquito Fighter Bomber, and made a huge V twin bike. Made the front cover of “Bike” magazine in 1986.
Hope you find the time to make the project ID.RadarModeratorPutting them back together in right order is the real trick..!
RadarModeratorThought you had gone missing. Hope that you get your PC up and running again soon. Why do people keep sending out these Viruses?
That exhaust looks well hot. When I used to help testing engines on a Dyno the exhausts used to glow cherry red on a test run to get full power. This looked amazing and we used to switch all the lights out in the test room (cell) to get the best effect. Awesome.
One guy went into the cell during a power run to get a phot of the exhaust glowing. Got the picture OK and then went back to the control console. Just as he sat down BANG! The engine threw a rod and embedded a piston in the wall! If it done that a few seconds earlier it would of split his head in two! Lucky man!
This was on a car engine (a V8), but still a good story!RadarModeratorWhat do you mean -“Radar is unreliable”!
Seriously welcome aboard.RadarModeratorAll the ideas sound great, and don’t feel too bad about not seeing all of India yet. I have been saying that I would do a round UK tour for years, but somehow never get round to it! The closest was riding a Moped from one end of the country to another non-stop with some friends in 1990 for charity. 906 miles in 42 hours! (Full sory in the Scooter section). I have toured bits of Wales, Scotland and the Isle of Man, but have never done a full UK trip in one go.
Loads of people I know have toured Europe and there a few posts aboy these trips by various people.
I will get around to this one day!RadarModeratorDiablo,
Those rides sounded brilliant, and I used to love keeping up with bigger more powerful bikes when I used to ride my 1980 RD250LC Yamaha and later on a RD350LC YPVS.
To go 95-100mph is quick, but many people ride much quicker than me! The danger starts to climb to levels I can’t handle to be honest.
The roads and countyside you describe sound really enticing, and to be honest I did not think that riding in India had this to offer.
Please let us know when you take on the Himalayas!Radar
