I am warning my wife, up to three months.

Turkmenistan is the only country where I have to gun it for 5 days, outstaying your visa is not a good thing!

Before and after then I just take it as it comes at my own pace.

Wow, trafalger sq without the pigeons.

I could see something was missing, but it took me a moment to notice.

London is beautiful, but drowning in traffic and tourists.

To be honest, the hardest part is the first week or 2.

Until i give in to the road and dont care what comes over the horizon. The problem is is should be through Turkey by then, bring ripped off and fleeced in Azabaijan.

As for bike problems, if I am careful, I dont expect any!

As it happens…. I mentioned I would be riding to Mongolia via China on a charity rally, he didnt bat an eyelid.

This was new dealership for me, the last one left me feeling very unsatisfied. I dont pay premium price for a bike to be treated with indifference.

This new dealership gave me a nice loaner bike (as opposed to the 20 year old Pan from the last place), fixed the bike promptly, called me with 3 hours to say the problem was fixed, let me off an 18 euro surcharge and gave me a mythical BMW part that connects my GPS to a socket in the wiring. My last dealer denied its existence, even though I had a picture of it in its package with the part number on it!

But alls well that ends well, the panzer is back in my garage with a new battery and I found a good dealer!

The Panza let me down yesterday……twice. And its going to today as well.

I go off for my Sunday mental cobweb cleaning blast. The bike seemed a little slow to turn over.
I Stop at a cafe along the way for a coffee, 10 minutes later, I hit the start button, dunk dunk dunk from a weak battery. Bmw assist come out to the bike, It starts first time!! He said it was the compression build up. No it isnt, its a weak battery, its a know problem.

He lets me go on my way, I ride 30 or so miles home. Take a dvd back to the shop. Same thing happens.

So this time I wait 10 minutes then try the bike again, weak, but it started.

Its going to do the same today, im going to be calling BMW till they give me a new battery!

I love riding and I love singing when Im riding. I have a zumo so fortunatly I can combine these activities.

My wife has to put up with my wailing constantly.

But back to the saviour sing song point, I was riding through Poland, late last autumn (Micheal Palins fault). I had been rained on for 15 hours a day, for five days non stop, the temperature never rose above 5 degrees. Apart from wet feet, I was as warm as toast (if not too warm), loving the wet, for the most part dry under my waterproofs and I sang my head off the whole time!

Brilliant, I’d do it again tomorrow!
