It was at Donnington. Ron is not always there but does use the circuit and drops in apparently.
You have to do the CBR600 school first then the ‘blade one. Fantastic day out.
I got the Long Way Round book and DVD for my birthday. Great series and the book is well worth reading. They drop into the Nurburgring on the way and even stay at the Lindenhof Hotel and in the same room as we use! See my Nurburgring Review…
Jay – 2004 Firebladejayas1965ParticipantI saw Charlie Boorman at a Ron Haslam race school I did earlier this year. He went out with Rocket on a ‘blade. Ron is a top bloke as well. I thought I was shifting when Ron went past me on a ‘blade on his back wheel! Had a chat with the man himself and he had the time to chat. Nice guy. I ended up getting a ‘blade after that experience.
Jay – 2004 Firebladejayas1965ParticipantI have to admit that I have not really done much commuting on my bike before, but, now you can’t get me off it. Even when it’s raining I would rather use the bike than the car, and I have a nice warm car!
I only travel 15 miles to work but usually end up smiling when I get there, something that using the car would not cause. Don’t get me wrong, I like my car but the bike slips past what traffic I do come across and is much more interesting. Some local roads, dual carridgeways and some nice Welsh country type roads. Great fun.
I just have to remember each day that is it NOT a race!

jayas1965ParticipantYou are right, tons of grin power, but scarey as well. you have to treat the place with such respect as broken bones do hurt.

jayas1965ParticipantGix, he has. I have to admit the RD was such a hard bike to part with. I doubted myself so many times, should I keep it, should I sell it. It was pathetic! I just never used it. I had to decide if the RD was going to rise in value more than the fun I was going to have on the new ‘blade. The ‘blade won. Thankfully. I now use it for work each day, something I never did with my old ‘blade. The guy who bought it tried to haggle over the price. I almost changed my mind and kept it! I threw in some parts I had instead.
So, now, I am going to try and beat my old fastest speed (on a private road) and see what my baby can manage.2004 Fireblade
jayas1965ParticipantMy old RD500LC
I had to sell my old ‘blade and my much under-used RD500LC to get the new ‘blade. I had the RD for about 9 years and put only 2000 miles on it. Stopped riding it 6 years ago! It just sat there in the garage doing nothing. Got a decent price for it and it allowed me to get the new bike without putting my hand in my pocket. Something I hate doing.

jayas1965ParticipantThat looks like it was speeded up it was so fast! The jump once it got to about 50 then leapt so fast up to 100. What a wheelie! I can ride fast okay but not that fast with only 1 wheel on the ground!

jayas1965ParticipantPicture of my new ‘blade with the old one behind it prior to it’s sale….and thanks for the welcome.

jayas1965ParticipantI am new to this board so I thought I would start with the speeding section. I had a 2000 ‘blade and the fastest I ever had on a public road was 176 on the clock. Also managed 165 in the rain once but I was in a hurry, it was late (1am) so no-one was around. ’twas a mad experience.
Just swapped my old ‘blade for a new one and so far that one has managed 172 but with so much less effort! I think it should easily pull 180. [] - AuthorPosts
