When the South Midlands biker nites start up in late March (Thursdays) maybe you can drag Radar along to one or two of them…??
Or even the Gloucestershire biker nights (Wednesdays) which do stray up into Herefordshire & Worcestershire…..??
Trying to use up some rubber so I can justify changing both tyres in time for summer touring….
elessimoParticipantGood to see forum stalwart Katana getting out despite the best efforts of a wet and wild winter
Just ‘cos he’s got weird bike clobber there’s no reason to shoot him in the back so often, Cochise!
elessimoParticipantHi I’m steve frpm Kidderminster
I just thought I’d say hello as ive just joined the group…
..ive a fz1 2007 and I have also just bought a rd350 ypvs …Hi Steve – welcome to the group!
You didn’t buy that RD from Radar, did you?
elessimoParticipantEssentially yes to it all!
We’ll chat on Wednesday then…
elessimoParticipantWell after an excellent 2015 I need to start thinking about 2016.
How about another green-lane trip in Snowdonia with Thumper and the TT crew?
And a weekend in Llandovery?
The Bike4Life ride-out to RAF Cosford? (Get tickets soon!)
Brackley Festival of Motorcycling?
AdventureOverlandShow (Stratford Upon Avon)?
Hoggin’ the Bridge?
Meetups at Ludlow Castle? So much to do, so little time….
elessimoParticipantHappy new year folks.
I trust that you all got good biker type Xmas pressies! I received the Guy Martin autobiography that I will be reading over the next month or so.
‘Old Man on a Bike’ by Simon Gandolfi & a set of waterproof bikers maps for me…..
Started the former – I suggest we meet up and baptise the latter one wet weekend….elessimoParticipantJust waiting on the weather now so I can actually ride it.
Nice looking behemoth!! You must be really raring to take it out….
I snatched a ride yesterday when a bit of blue sky appeared but as soon as I hit Wales the heavens opened again….
Only saw 2 other bikers in 90 minutes out: I was the only two-wheeler at Tintern Abbey and the Seven Bends – usually crawling with GSs.
Thank Dog for my waterproof ARMR textiles…..elessimoParticipantMore feedback from the MV forum
Radar………..your mate needs to learn how to spell……it’s Agusta !You spelt it Augusta..I have corrected it now…you will get me shot
Haha! The curse of a classical education….. Did I spell MV correctly? :-[
elessimoParticipantSome excellent pics there, looks like a good show and that you really enjoyed yourself. I wonder the picture of Ol’s is a bit fuzzy??
Had my paparazzi hat on – this was a snatched photo at long range with a small camera: Ol was working so hard that he created a local heat haze that steamed up the lens….
elessimoParticipantI linked your review to the MV forum, had a couple of replies:
I have almost 6K miles on an XRx, am looking to add the Turismo as a second bike. If he wants my experience with the XRx, point him my way (plus I had an ’08 GS for about 6 years). The Turismo interests me because it seems to be a bit more towards the sport side of things and…well…it’s Italian . The XRx is a very good bike, and for a shorter rider it works well. In my case I’m 6’1″ and I ended up getting a *higher* saddle to give me more legroom. Interested to see how the Turismo fits me.
and
If he is thinking about going for the MV the lower suspension option does cause issues with the sidestand. The MV site does list a lower seat option (not very low though!).
Thanks Radar – interesting….. Ed Cosker said they’re doing a lowered Turismo Lusso with matching panniers that I can have a go on any time, but he needed to check the handling first; I’ll need Debs for that.
So many options, so little wifely tolerance! Anyway, we’ll see whether 3 weeks touring Spain on the TDM changes her mind!elessimoParticipantNovember 25, 2015 at 10:40 pm in reply to: Henry Body, the 81 year old sprint rider! Inspirational #68864elessimoParticipantInspirational indeed!!
elessimoParticipant“The MV just can’t be ridden sensibly: it’s a gorgeous bike but risks losing my licence. year…..”
I might be in trouble with my Brutale then!
I wouldn’t be suprised….
elessimoParticipantSounds like it is a fight between the Triumph and the MV for business still. Great review and pics.
Here is your MV review as point of comparison
Apparently the 2016 Tigers have a ‘Low’ seat option and much improved suspension – could be the deal-breaker for stumpy me. The MV just can’t be ridden sensibly: it’s a gorgeous bike but risks losing my licence. Will try a lowered Lusso next year…..
elessimoParticipantExcellent!
Got a couple of KTMs lined up for test rides on Friday if it’s dry….
Hope the weather improves for you, which models. Mt mate Stu who currently rides a Triumph XC800 rode one recently and found himself a little unmoved to his surprise. He is trading the XC in for GS1200 btw
Postponed until Saturday…. Got the 1050 and 1190 Adventures lined up. Sorted a good route through the backroads of Gretton – where I had my eureka ride on the 800 XRx. Still need to visit Cardiff to try out a Ducati or two before finalising anything though.
Picked up the 1090RR today, details to follow…but all good so far. How did you get on with the KTM pairing? There is a Ducati dealer in Wolverhampton, fancy a trip up there together?
That MV of yours looks awesome… Rain delayed the KTMs but will try this Friday. If my back recovers in time…..
The Duke dealer in Wolverhampton sounds an excellent idea! Discuss over the next curry-off?
