Group ride to Herefordshire to Shobdon Aerodrome.
Two years since we last visited and it proved to be a popular venue for the posse.
Nice cafe there with good food or simply take a picnic.
Returning via Welsh Mointain roads with a pub stop on the way
Start point is the Masons Arms at Rudgeway.
Newent ( take a flask ) piss break & leg stretch only
Shobdon Aerodrome
Pub stop on return leg…Swindon AndyParticipant21107
Swindon AndyParticipantReminder – this one is on on Sunday 1st Feb. If you do go best to let the organiser know on the 4CB web site – he’s counting. (Facebook site could be closed to newbies)
https://www.4countiesbikers.com/Hope to see you there
Swindon AndyParticipantStart point will be the Masons Arms BS35 3QJ where they do a good breakfast bar for £4 I think. Then probably fairly straight to AV8
“Short Group Run To Our Old Favourite The AV8.
Start at The Masons For Brekkie And End The Ride With a Cuppa And A Thaw Out At The George Inn At Cambridge,Gloucestershire.”If you’re coming, suggest you join up to the 4CBs on Facebook. A good laugh on there, and you can vote whether going or not, so they know how many. Also keep an eye on future events. I recommend this group, sensible and well marshalled rides without being too slow or too fast.
Swindon AndyParticipantElessimo – 1st Feb short run planned Bristol area to AV8 cafe at Kemble airfield. I will pobble over to join the run and then go straight home from Kemble.
Otherwise nothing your way until after April. I expect there will be at least one into Brecon or similar in the good weather.Swindon AndyParticipantMine came already converted to HID and it is very good indeed. Passes MOT OK despite the warnings about levelling mechanisms. The only problem is they take a few seconds to brighten up, so the main beam isn’t instant. I would definitely go for HID in the dip, not so sure about the main. I have two main bulbs, I might change one to filament type.
My opinion on LEDs is they are good for being seen, but not so sure about a powerful enough beam.Swindon AndyParticipant4000 a year is more than most achieve. My MOT bloke reckons 1000 – 2000 is more typical of most bikes. Your year two looks like quite a year!
Swindon AndyParticipantI fitted a new battery too. The old one was getting a bit slow in the cold despite charging. Went for a Yuasa sealed, where you add the acid from a bottle stack. Easier job than I feared. £50 on line not too bad.
Swindon AndyParticipantYesterday I did 140 miles with the 4 Counties Bikers. 75 bikes from Bristol to Weston Super Nightmare. Started and finished in Swindon of course, no motorways. Pretty good for a day that didn’t get over 5 degrees on my dash gauge
Swindon AndyParticipantWhat about Metronome, I saw this at the Pod many years ago. Nuts!
Swindon AndyParticipantI’m thinking of a Normandy jaunt next year, with Verla’s brother-in-law. Do you think my German bike and his Jap bike will be ignored? Or is trouble brewing?
Swindon AndyParticipantLooks like a nice little run-out. Nice gear KAT.
Swindon AndyParticipantI think the riding position on the BM is pretty good, it’s my wrists that need a rest or change of position now and then. I suppose riding for 3 hours at a time non-stop is pushing it.
I was wondering where to go today, there’s a few ride outs but none that appeal. Maybe hot cross bun and coffee at Blades Swindon. Might go to AV8 to see the Wiltshire mob arriving from their run.
Swindon AndyParticipantOh my god! Why?
Swindon AndyParticipantRather sad, the Trophy is sold. I hope it is going to a good home.
I got almost what I paid for it, which isn’t bad considering it’s not the riding season quite yet. - AuthorPosts
