Another superb post Diablo. Reminded me of when I used to go “touring” on my Honda CB100N! Did 240 miles in a single stint once – about 400kms with all my gear on it. Mile after mile on the A1 North at 10,000rpm. Poor little thing. I went up to the Chevoit Hills on it, rode over the top of the UK from the Lakes to Northumberland too, on some ace roads. I have had many bikes and done thousands of miles since, but those early rides remain amongst the most memorable. The reason I rode then is just the same as it is now, to escape. When I am on the bike all my troubles just melt away and it doesn’t matter what size, or type of bike it is.
I would love to ride more now, but many things stop me. This just makes the pleasure all the more intense when I can.
Diablo, keep riding, keep posting!RadarModeratorSee what you mean!!

RadarModeratorI think the mail order people (M&P) do the stickers. Typically I only chucked the old catalogue out a few days ago!
My Thundercat has a KPH speedo with a sticker for MPH on it and been through three MOTs without a problem.
What bike is it?
Welcome to the forum by the way.
RadarModeratorAs I understand it a Grey import is a model not normally sold on the UK market by the official importer. A parallel import is a model that is offered by the official importer as well.
For example my Thundercat is a parallel import as it was originally brought into the UK by an idependent importer rather than Yamaha, whereas something like a Suzuki Goose or Honda CBR400RR would be a Grey import as Suzuki or Honda Uk never offered these models on the UK market.
As for insurance it shouldn’t be a problem if the bike is UK spec, but if it is a Grey they might be a difference. However, there a number of insurance companies that offer policys tailored to these type of bikes so you should be Ok if it isn’t something too wierd!
Hope this helps!RadarModeratorSaw one advertised in UBG a few months back for over 4k!!!
I know of someone who has two he is restoring, potential goldmine by the look of it.RadarModeratorSorry about spelling Valerdonkey wrong Scouser!
My T Cat is also blessed with a dumb name.
In answer to James B, I am up for a Forum ride-out at some point in the summer, and I will bring some spare gloves for ID!RadarModeratorStrong stuff on the K series there, but your point on the head gaskets is a fair one.
As you say the engine is ageing now, even Lotus are switching to Toyota power later this year.
Many of the specialists semed to like it however, was it because it was cheap and available?
The bike engines are definately the way to go for thrills. - AuthorPosts
