linky no worky
You're right bugger. Well it show a stock looking 550 run 11 second quarters with 112mph terminal speed…good going!
RadarModeratorHow does that work?
I subscribe to Bike so I get it about a week before it is the shops, but still barmy
RadarModeratorReviewed in BIKE magazine this month (Sept 2019), gets a great review
Barmy that you can get the September edition in late July
RadarModeratorCan't beat bikes and a brew, especially if accompanied by a “salad”
You really can't, one of the great combinations!
RadarModeratorDo you find you are a bit precious of it? Is that what stops you from using it?
I think it is a combination of things…it still has some fuelling issues, I have other bikes to ride and sometimes I feel a little self-conscious on it!
RadarModeratorWell the ZR has since passed another MOT, had a new battery and is currently back at Readspeed to have a few bits and bobs done. It's a strange thing. I love the look of the bike, it is great fun to ride too, but find myself not using it as much as I thought I would. Perhaps this will change now the stock 550 has been sold
RadarModeratorJust watched this again…what a hoot. You have certainly had your monies worth from that Guzzi. You put up a gutsy showing on the bends and fancy getting told off!!
RadarModeratorWell i have test ridden a 900GT Tracer and came away very impressed. Looking into making this happen. My local dealer offered a great place on my Ducati as part ex, but I have decided to keep that. So at the moment looking into trading in the MV

RadarModeratorGave me somit to do for the day!
It certainly did! My highest miles in one day in 825! Set when I was a courier in the mid 1980s!
The tales of those times can be read here…
RadarModeratorGot a load of relatives down that way (Looe) but never even thought of heading down there on the bike before now.
Looe is lovely, I rode there for “lunch” on the Guzzi last year iirc, around a 650 mile round trip!
That's a hell of a trek for lunch! Fair play!
RadarModeratorAndy (aka Thumper) tried the 500 too recently. Came away impressed with it's road manners, but felt it was perhaps a little too road biased
RadarModeratorSome great photos. Your camper van looks awesome!
The camper van is indeed great – it's revolutionised our spare time. After 55 years of camping we now don't mind it when it rains – our last few tents have been trashed by Welsh storms, but now we just crack open another drink and pull the awning in when the wind gets up….
We're off to the Outer Hebrides in it later this year
Awesome stuff. I'm hoping to get a van next year, won't be a camper, although I will sleep in it
I remember how much you used your various vans, most infamously the flaming Master, dusty Transit and the mini-horsebox with the pink star!
RadarModeratorLooks like you had a fabulous time. I would have come, but felt I needed a quiet week before the new job, thinking I might have got that wrong!! Mach 2.5 was brilliant, the only one I have made it to so far.
Good to catch up in Ludlow yesterdayand meet the new Triumph in person. I have to say it looks great
RadarModeratorWell after 18 months I have sold the ZR…after an iffy start I really enjoyed the 4000 miles I did on this bike. But I need the funds to shuffle my bikes about a bit, so it had to go sadly. Sold to a local chap so hopefully I will still see it about
June 6, 2019 at 10:14 pm in reply to: Normandy Review. Days 1&2 Visiting the Invasion Beaches #62801RadarModeratorLovely to re-read this mate, the Normandy beaches are still quite a haunting place. The RN sub museum is a gret visit too!
Cheers Pete. I read through both parts again myself. I have been watching some of the BBC coverage too…very humbling
