Sounds great, although I can’t do it this year, I’m in France for a while [:(]
Hopefully some other members are free to represent the forum?

Thanks, guys. You’ve built up my trust in bikers again!

No pink flowery gloves though please, Radar.

I couldn’t get a tube of toothpaste into my Seven let alone any serious shopping. That’s why I avoided the K-series ;-)

Seriously though, these cars fly whatever the engine because they’re so lightweight. I think however that the fun of driving these cars is spoilt by a naff engine, so my next build will have a revvy bike engine (or two).

Nice links, Kat. I remember going to visit C & D Autos when I was younger and thinking what a gem the shop was. I don’t think it has changed in 25 years – great!

    Are you a Midlands chap?

Oh well, if they’re telling us what they ride now, didn’t Neil Armstrong say “One small step-thru for man”?

And wasn’t it Admiral Nelson who said “Kiss me R.D.”?

    Found a nice site:

They have pics of very well finished Reliant based trikes, worth a visit.

Hi Smucho, welcome to the forum.

I’ve replaced a few cam chains over the years and the tool I use is a chain splitter and riveter combined. It is supposed to be suitable for all sizes of chain, but I can’t guarantee that having done only a few myself. The last couple I did were kits which had a split link like your final drive chain. At first you think ‘What’s going to happen if it breaks?’ but then you realise that you’re asking more of your final drive chain with all the mud, water and general crap that is thrown at it. And when was the last time that you heard about one of those coming off unless not properly fixed in the first place?

Do make sure that the direction of rotation for your split link is correct and you should have no problems using a non-riveted link.

    Here’s a US site which sells riveter/splitters:

    https://www.jcwhitney.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10101&AID=10273849&productId=3054&TID=101&catalogId=10101&langId=-1&PID=952457

or for $35 try this link:

    https://www.partsnmoreonline.com/PNMSite/Z1KZ-35-0112htm.htm

Hope this helps, I don’t know or recommend these stores but maybe they can give you more info.

If you get chance, tell us more about your bike(s) and what Canadian biking is all about. Good luck and please let us know how you get on with the chain.

Radar/Hesketh analogy – He, he, he.
Don’t worry Radar, I’ve saved you the bother and posted a Scouse gag in the jokes section.

Jimi Hendrix would have a bike engined Lotus Seven replica because it’s got 2 Fenders.

Hi Sooze, welcome to the forum. Hope you find some biking neighbours. You can drop a post in the meetings section which may attract more interest. If you get chance, pop along to the “members’ bikes” section too and tell us what you ride.

    Good luck!

Stay with me on this one…..

If they run out of oil when cornering in the car that’s the equivalent of wheelies or stoppies on a bike isn’t it? Speaking purely from an engine orientation point of view here.

I understand there are 2 approaches to twin engine design.

    1. Drive the rear wheels with engine (a) and the front wheels with engine (b)

    2. Use both engines’ output to drive a common gearbox

How the hell does option 1 work, is it totally reliant on electronic engine management? Seem to remember a split gearshift on a Tiger Seven replica which allowed each engine to be gearchanged separately but there must be more to it than that.

I’ve dug up a few UK based resources on the Sigma calibration. Seems an interesting one this. Try:

https://www.strangely.org/owned/bikecomp/ This guy fitted one to a Lotus Seven replica and then calibrated it by testing on a measured mile.

    https://www.st1100.org/farkles/sigma.html Shows an ST1100 fitting.

If there’s not the info on those sites, maybe an email to Sigma could help via https://www.sigmasport.com/index_e.html

Sorry guys, but are these Sigma’s you talk about speedos. Are they like pushbike ones with magnets fixed on the wheel?
