If its the same hydrophane we used to use (Blue tin with lots of little horses heads on it – used to be anyway), its just a brand name for Neatsfoot Oil. Good stuff for leather, not for stitching.

I used the leather balsam on the back of the knees and elbows. Also a bit on the inside of calves. Not sure if it rots stitching so being a bit careful. Hydrophane is actually oil (we call it neatsfoot oil in the horse industry) and stops leather from cracking. It does soften leather but rots the stitching so care should be taken if used often. For this reason, I would advise people to only use it once or twice on new leathers.
Oh and yes, the tatoo is fine. A bit dry and itchy is all.

Do you mind gentlemen? You are corrupting my innocent mind with all this talk of vasaline, baby oil and grease! Are any of these items good for leathers? At least if I fall off I will slide harmlessly to the side of the road and with all that lubrication, escape without damage to myself or my leathers!!!

My dad had the VTR Firestorm and then the SP1. He rated the Firestorm because its better at low speeds than the VTR1000SP1 which he said was heavy, cumbersome and jerky at lower speeds. Don’t know anyone with SV1000 but some friends rated its baby brother very highly. Have you test ridden either of them?

I bought a lovely matt black helmet some time ago but it was expensive. I think it was Roof. It could be worn as an open face or there was a mask that went over the nose and mouth like a fighter pilots helmet. It just clipped on with a tough press stud either side of the face. It looked real cool but it was quite expensive as they were new models when I bought one. They might be cheaper now if they still do them ’cause there an older style or keep looking on Ebay. Might get lucky!

Hi Radar. I also installed Norton and found that it slowed everything down. This is because the Auto-Protect is enabled as default. This means that Norton will automatically scan every file and program that you click on to open before allowing it to be opened. Here is what you do to disable it –

Either right click on the Norton icon at the bottom of your screen, there will be 3 options, left click on Disable Auto-Protect. The icon should then appear with a cross through it.
If you can’t find icon or for some reason haven’t got one, open Norton Anti-Virus program. When the window appears, click on OPTIONS, you should see some boxes with ticks in. Click on the Enable Auto-Protect. The tick should then disappear.

If you turn off your pc you will have to repeat these steps unless you remove the tick from the box saying “Start Auto-Protect when Windows starts up”. It is up to you whether you want to do this. I haven’t as my pc is on almost permantly anyway.

You should be safe to carry out these steps as long as you scan your pc for viruses regularly as the program will still warn you of malicious emails and if you are downloading it will still be monitoring.

As for connection problems, it may be your firewall. Do you have a seperate firewall like ZoneAlarm? I had to configure mine to allow Internet Explorer access. Another reason may be that you need to add this sight to your “Allow Cookies” in Internet Options.

Hope this helps, let me know if you need any more help.

Pretty good XV. And I thought I was obsessed with the police forces inability to fight real crime!

I have one for the lady riders out there –

“YOU DON’T NEED BALLS TO RIDE A FAST BIKE!”

But I do like GSXHooligans – “Its taxed, MOT’d – Now f*** off and chase some real criminals!”. That is a good one!

I will remember that next time. I have almost completely healed and the scabbing has just about all gone, It looks like I have lost a bit of colour too although it still looks good as the patches of lighter colour looks like light reflection. I’m well chuffed!
