Awesome write up as always! Reading this so makes me want to go back to Spain on the bike, my favourite place to ride a bike!
Thanks Matt: re-reading it makes me want to go back too!
Got to agree with you – Spain is a fantastic country for biking…. No bad points anywhere.September 29, 2016 at 10:12 pm in reply to: Spanish Loop 2016 pt1: Spain can be bloody hot in September! #69287elessimoParticipantExcellent stuff Steve and some great photos! 50 degrees is ridiculously hot though, that would have finished me off.
Thanks Dave,
I love that kind of heat – perfect for riding…Strangely, my only other European trip (in 1990 on an XJ900) was in the middle of a record-breaking heat-wave in France…..

Apparently it was the hottest temperature ever recorded in Murcia – 50C – on the day we rode past to Guardamar de Segura….
Thought it was a tad warm!

I’ve never ridden in Germany, though a close mate owns a vineyard on the Mosel so Debs is angling for a visit…

Big E, well done!
I make it 13 – not bad for a wet Wednesday in Bretforton!

Debs trying out some new bike gear ready for Spain, so of course it did rain a bit. But it’s only water…
Parking in the apple orchard
Some of the old geezer crowd: Ol, Karl, Radar, Stuart, Geoff and John
This is John’s lovely 2002 Kwacker for sale – £2k-ish, I think: a bargain!
Immaculate A10
Mates in the paddock
Good turnout despite the slippery cobbles
Biker Debs with her bitch? Sorry Carol! xxSo it rained, but a great time was had by all!
The range of real ales and ciders was excellent; they had a pizza oven in full swing as well as the usual hot dogs & burgers. Some really nice bikes, old and new, and Triumph Explorers outnumbered GS 1200s. Result!August 18, 2016 at 11:09 pm in reply to: Indian Springfield 111 ‘Bagger’ – Review and Pictures #69255elessimoParticipantI really enjoyed riding a bike that was a little bit away from the norm for me
Likewise: that Harley was a blast on gently weaving country A roads (‘though I’m much too young to consider buying one!! ).
August 18, 2016 at 10:00 pm in reply to: Indian Springfield 111 ‘Bagger’ – Review and Pictures #69253elessimoParticipantMore stripped back the better I like ’em, too….
After nearly T-boneing the bank at the top of my drive on that Ultraglide ‘cos I couldn’t turn in time (those running boards don’t agree with 90degree uphill turns!) I now want to try out a minimalist American machine.
The engine was lovely!
elessimoParticipantHave you seen his pics from the Brackley event, some corking bikes were there
Yes – good to have another contributor!
Especially with such good pics….August 18, 2016 at 8:47 pm in reply to: Brackley Festival of Motorcycling, Sunday 14th August #69249elessimoParticipantGreat write-up and photos!!
Will try and make it next year – unless it clashes with Lakefest again!
elessimoParticipantI went to the meet at the Village Inn, Tewkesbury last night, wish I’d read your comments about ignoring the 7pm start time, arrived just before 7 and the place was heaving. I was stood opposite the pub when they were calling out the raffle winners, and thought I recognised ellesimo from the photos on the site , but wasn’t sure until I got home and looked at the photos on one of the reviews. I did see a very new shiny looking GS there, was that Ol?
I was there on my MV Turismo, parked up on the grass near the ice cream van.
I’m away for the next couple of weeks but will try to make one of the September meets, next time I will say hello. That was indeed me: shades, arabic scarf, big belly….
Come over and introduce yourself next time – always good to make contact!Yes, if the GS was triple black then that was Ol’s brand new Beemer – we also had Geoff’s new (to him) 2013 blue Explorer (under 10k miles) and Jed’s 2015 red Explorer (3,800 miles) picked up that day – I’ll get photos up in due course…. Made me feel like my 2013 grey Explorer is an old hack at 18,650 miles
And of course John’s immaculate 2002 Kwacker 689 or whatever it is! (For Sale!): John’s got his sights set on a 1050 Tiger…We saw your Turismo parked up and when you were leaving: favourable comments all round…. It is indeed a lovely sounding/looking/riding bike…..
Jed and I had a mad ride back in the dark, dodging tractors, owls and broken branches on that awesome Tewkesbury-Ledbury-Ross country road, then stopped at our local for a bevy. Work today was tough……
Hope you make a September meet, but I’m away in Spain for the first 3 Wednesdays, racking up the kilometres on the Explorer….
Hopefully some of the Brum/Worcester crowd will make The Fleece at Bretforton – good pub. Geoff and Mick come down from Sutton Coldfield regularly now, so it is viable…..
August 11, 2016 at 10:02 pm in reply to: BMW GS1200 – the most common bike in the UK – official. #69178elessimoParticipantSince the start of June, Jed, Geoff and I have all bought Triumph Explorers.
The fight back has started!
August 11, 2016 at 9:53 pm in reply to: Brackley Festival of Motorcycling, Sunday 14th August #69242elessimoParticipantWould be there, but got a bloomin’ Lakefest music festival to go to…. three days of scrumpy and primal dub gyp-step….
