Happy Days are here again – good company, and a fine ride. Hundreds of bikes at Quatt – variation worthy of a bike show – brilliant!
The Duke 750 sport was rolled out into the sunlight again. The sould of the performance pipes really is awesome at playtime! The hamdleing is propably the best I have ever owned, and with a professionally converted twin disc Brembo converstion at the front it can stop with great power, and control. IT really is like a little track bike – good fun.
After the twisties, the breakfast was well worth looking forward to aswell,
Thanks chaps!ThumperParticipantAnother wonderful spin in some lovely biking countryside, and great to see Katana [and lovely blade] again.
I don’t know what I enjoyed the most, the route, the Duke, the great company, breakfast, of seeing all those bikes at Quatt [together with Fleur – our resident biker bird pin-up]
Radar – we need (more) pictures next time!
ThumperParticipantHi BK, and all! sorry for late reply!
Radar is right, the weather when from fab to shocking to sunny again, and despite the mucky mess, we still enjoyed it – and it surprises me to say that. Breakfast was a nice treat too – recommed the cafe.
The Tiger was so stable even in the tricky conditions, soaking up all the bumps, and ploughing through the puddles etc. BK-your welcome to share a ride out on it anytime. Pete/Max it won’t be long before we can organise a meet up.
Here’s to the next sunny weekend though, coz, it took bloomin’ ages to clean the thing
ThumperParticipantThe Tiger’s Grrrreat Max !
Ride all day comfy, and the sound of that 900 triple is absolutely wonderful.
Recomended.ThumperParticipantHey Max, I’m no Charlie Boorman yet (although I fancy the opportunity)- I keep getting an altitude related nose bleed every time I stand in the Pegs!
Bloomin’ love it though. Had a fab ride on suny Sunday, doing a 170mile round trip bimbling around on my way to visit folks near Ross-on Wye.
The route took in the Malverns, and I managed to find this beautiful 16th Century pub called Live and Let Live near ‘Collins Green’. Wonderful. The Tiger was so in its element wheather rumbling around the bendy country lanes at modest velocity with that Tiger tripe burble, or booming past some traffic on the entertaining A roads.
So comfortable – I can understand riders riding some mega miles on these machines. 40 mpg too.
A most enjoyable exploration of country side and bike. Happy days eh !
ThumperParticipantI want to hear it fire up now! – get it on http://www.yoursilvertube ASAP
I think you could be starting a new trend there with silver pipes old pal !
Wern’t you temped to spray the engine black while the pies were off – I would not have been able to resit it.
Crossed fingers for the MOT now Radar !
ThumperParticipantAny news from Sheet Metal Services (AKA intensive care) Radar?
ThumperParticipantWell, it is true, the Duke is still tucked up safely in the museum !
You’ll have to have a go Gix, it is very racey, but not the sort of missile you are used too – but still bubbling over with character/Talk about chalk and cheese, the little cati & the big tiger.
Really enjoying the this trumpet now.I did lower the bike, by rotating the eccenting chain adjusters, and slidding the front forks through a few extra millimeters.
I decided to change it back again however, when Toggsy came back after a road digging excurtion got his attention big time. The centre stand [an extra on this bike] was trying to plough its own furrow on some of the twisties on the around-the-block test circuit! So back to normal ride height now, and I’ve almost got used to it!
Glorious engine note, and a superbly comfortable magic carpet like ride.
Fun to be had this year lads & lasses.ThumperParticipantSend me a cheque Gix, I’ll work out how many points to give you :-0
ThumperParticipantMOTed the TDR, overhalled the brakes, heard the blues getting stuffed, and then had a beutifly counrtyside waft around on the Tiger at Hammerwitch and the back of Lichfield.
The sunny weather really makes everything right again doesn’t it.
ThumperParticipantYep, great fun today around the contryside at the back of Coleshill, not far from Bikers World, pictured above.
It came in very handy when we wanted a warm up, and a sausage & egg….Ahmmm, wanted to review the latest riding gear
Thanks for the piccys Radar, and good little ride of approx 40miles.ThumperParticipantYep, Radar sure does know how to fling a bike around !
You only have to say ‘breakfast’ and he gets this excitedThumperParticipantBoy, it was a bit on the chilly side! – Had to have some topping up fuel in bacon, egg & pot on tea form, just to keep the circulation going – you understand !
A big Thank you to Radar for taking me to collect the Tiger, and posting the thoughts and imagery of the day – the wintery scenery was spectacular at times.I will have to let you all know what the Tiger is like to live with, and the outcome of my first project – operation shortarse – lowering the beast by 20mm.
But first impressions of the Tiger are of being silky smooth, with that creamy triple burble as a glorious fanfare. No sportbike, obviously, it’s weight and height taking some getting used to.
Quite honestly, it’s the most comfortable bike I have ever ridden – a real mile muncher.
It also returned a respectable 44mpg on the way home too.Now just two small problems remaining,
1/ how to make space for the 4 bikes in the garage, &
2/ how to make up for the fact I was having all this fun on Valentine’s Day….. OOPSTake cars all.
ThumperParticipantDid you know……..
the bike in the first picture (Anelay special 1952 125cc) is the basis for all BULTACO motorcycles !!!!!ThumperParticipantHave you seen some of the high temp binding racers wrap around their exhaust pipes.
Maybe, what a few gun-gum dollops of exhaust putty you can mummify the system enough to get through the MOT.
After all, its hidden by the faring isnt it?It might give you a chance to play while you continue to search for you replacements.
Any track guys out their have any experience on this?
