I reckon their were 12 of us altogether on 3 Triumph Explorer 1200s, 2 BMW GS1200, a 883 Harley, a 636 Kwack, my Thundercat and Skoda Fabia (Good old kat). Big E, well done!
Anyway picture time…
After a glorious day the weather was pretty iffy for the evening, but it didn’t stop there being a strong turnout. Bikes in an orchard adjacent to a National Trust pub, slightly surreal!
The Fleece, a classically beautiful English pub…
The place was packed, great atmosphere
Mind you they let anybody in….
I had eaten all the salad so Ollie had to settle for a Pizza…he looks most distressed….
Bikers were coming and going all evening and over-spilled out into the village itself
Who doesn’t love a Monkey Bike, especially in these funky colours…note true to period Top Tek lid too!
Radical chop, don’t know quite what motor that is, looks very Harley, but not 100% sure
Rat Triumph complete with beer can breather…nice touch
Just another old Triumph twin special, then you clock the carbon and wavy disc brake
Some stunning sports bikes here too, this Ducati caught my eye for obvious reasons…it’s ferkin’ gorgeous!
Another stunning V Twin, but somewhat older…the mighty Vincent
Jota…the business
Cool, neatly turned out Beezer
Spanish OSSA..a proper rarity, first one I have seen in the wild
I love an LC me…nicely done YPVS/LC hybridSo some great bikes in the best of company and everybody raising money for a good cause….can’t be bad!

I was surprised at the big turnout with the iffy weather
I will had some pics tomorrow myself

RadarModeratorHave you seen his pics from the Brackley event, some corking bikes were there
August 18, 2016 at 8:26 pm in reply to: Brackley Festival of Motorcycling, Sunday 14th August #69248RadarModeratorStunning pics, I would trample over hot coals to get to the LC!
RadarModeratorYes was very busy. Good turnout.
Good stuff. I did get a biking fix today, rode my MV to work…90 ish mile round trip. Must of been 100 bikes in, little free bike show!
August 17, 2016 at 10:25 pm in reply to: Brackley Festival of Motorcycling, Sunday 14th August #69246RadarModeratorYes, I did go, had a really good day. Went in the car with my best friend who was up from Kent for the weekend, and met my son and one of his friends rode over and met us there.
Spent most of the day on the high street, looking at the race paddock, the cafe racers and customs.
The best bit was watching the “demonstration” rides of various race bikes up and down the high street circuit.
It felt like a mini TT, being inches away from racing bikes being thrashed along public roads.
There was a full spectrum of bikes there, from 1950’s Guzzi singles, 250 and 500 Honda 4’s, MV 3 and 4 cylinder replicas, Tridents and Rocket 3’s, JPS Nortons, up to Carlos Checa’s Desmosedici and 1198 WSBK, a few current Moto 3 and 2 bikes.
There were four Honda 250 4 replicas, most of the time they were riding as two pairs, with a couple of them properly racing, and occasionly they would catch up with the other two, so you would have four of them flat out up the hill together – an amazing sound.
I went to the Tewkesbury Bikers Nite tonight, and while queing for a drink I heard two guys behind me complaining the the displays and stalls on the field at Brackley were not very interesting, and also moaning that the price of entry had gone up to £7.50 this year.
We watched some of the trials demos and enjoyed that, but the stands weren’t great – could do with a few more bike related product stands. As for £7.50, I thought it was godd value for a days entertainment in terms of the racing, but strangely that’s the bit you don’t have to pay to watch!Sounds like a cracking day, £7.50 isn’t a lot as you say…you just can’t please some people!
RadarModeratorStarting tonight, Wednesday 17th August, 7pm onwards and then every Wednesday after..until deepest winter anyway!!
Winking Man public house, on the A53 between Leek and Buxton, just 5 miles from the Cat and Fiddle!!!
And the suns shining!!
Cheers for posting
I was busy after work tonight and it is a bit far for an evening run for me…did you go? Any good?
August 16, 2016 at 11:03 pm in reply to: Brackley Festival of Motorcycling, Sunday 14th August #69244RadarModeratorDo you go to the festival in the, was it any good?
August 16, 2016 at 11:01 pm in reply to: Indian Springfield 111 ‘Bagger’ – Review and Pictures #69252RadarModeratorNice review, as always, Radar. Not my kind of thing though.
Cheers Kat. I was trying to look at it from the perspective of somebody who would be looking for this sort of bike and if you did it certainly stands comparison with the comparable Harley Davidson models like the Road King (I think). I prefer the more stripped back look personally like Thumper’s Dyna Harley of the Scout 1200 Indian I also tried recently (reviews of both elsewhere in this section)
August 11, 2016 at 10:22 pm in reply to: BMW GS1200 – the most common bike in the UK – official. #69179RadarModeratorSince the start of June, Jed, Geoff and I have all bought Triumph Explorers.
The fight back has started!
I feel a silly video coming on! Your Triumphs taking on the BMW mounted hoards
August 11, 2016 at 10:13 pm in reply to: Brackley Festival of Motorcycling, Sunday 14th August #69243RadarModeratorWould be there, but got a bloomin’ Lakefest music festival to go to…. three days of scrumpy and primal dub gyp-step….
Not been to a festival since 1983 or thereabouts…that does sound fun as you say!
RadarModeratorGood to see the TT crew out to play, shame i missed out but it was eldest’s birthday so family calls!
Loving the Benelli Sei and the V7 in particular
