f I remember correctly you brought it to the 550 'Speed Build' in 2017

Indeed I did, thanks for posting up your photo. Since then I have improved the brakes by fitting a Brembo RCS master cylinder and a four pot Brembo caliper. Also replace the original tyres which had plenty of tread left but were horrible.

Radar, I think I'm having the same issue as you then with Google photos, I'm copying their link, I can see the photo on preview and in the post, but no-one else can.

I was really impressed with the styling and finish of these when I saw them at the NEC, great value. I know they are very different bikes but if looking for something at this price point it would be interesting to try this against the Royal Enfield Interceptor.

Will try to get along to one of these, but the next one clashes with a meet at Bibury Classic Motor Hub that I've registered for. My Alfa is a bit older, a 1976 Spider.

Saw this on the MCN #ride5000miles facebook group, another unhappy ex GS owner complaining about corrosion and warranty issues

A few things I want to see this year – the KTM 790 Adventure, the Indian Flatracker is expected to be ready by then, the Yamaha 700 adventure bike might appear, also possibly the Guzzi V85.

I’ve had my KTM1090 for 10 months now, done 8,000 miles with solely leisure use, including two long weekends in Scotland, and a 9 day trip to the Dolomites a few weeks ago. No problems to report, other than I’ve changed the handlebars as I found the original ones had too much sweep and gave me a pain between the shoulders after a couple of hours. Did have to be recovered home one evening after filling up with dodgy fuel at Warwick services on the M40. Cleaned the filters out and all OK again.
There were some good deals on the 1090 recently at less than £10k for new unregistered bikes.

I use a chain oiler, but If I was commuting year round I’d be looking at shaft drive as a preference, but that pretty much takes you back to the GS.
I do know a few people that have had warranty issues with GS’s, corrosion on engine casings seems very common, but BMW are generally pretty good about warranty.
Maybe try getting a PCP quote for 2 years at 15,000 miles a year, at least you know what the cost will be and not have any nasty surprises about trade in later.

Yes, a reasonable turnout, but mainly cruiser type bikes. Was nice to take an evening ride out on the Guzzi, lovely weather and dry roads, and had never been into Evesham town centre before. Was very pleasant in the square and by the abbey.

Done 431 miles over the weekend, very happy so far. Only issue is it’s marginal on seat height with the KTM ergo (comfort) two part seats. It’s about an inch higher than the stock seat, nearly dropped it when I took may mate out on the back, firstly when he climbed on (very ungracefully!), and then when we had to make an enexpected stop. For now I’ve put the stock seat back on, I’ll take a longer term view on the comfort vs height issue.
I’ve also fitted an LED bulb conversion, very bright, but need to adjust the light down quite a bit when I got back tonight.

Sorry about the picture, I can see it OK, but I’ll try again with a link.

Sounds good. Is this replacing one off your other bikes or is this number three?

I’ll admit I’ve never been a fan of the GS – for me it’s the iPhone of motorcycles – it seems like nearly everbody has one, and those that do are rather zealous about telling you why it’s the best thing ever. Plus it’s Fugly.
A couple of friends have them, and I know they are very quick and capable bikes.
As I was looking for a new bike I thought I really should test ride a GS, partly to overcome my irrational dislike of them and see what it’s like, and partly because if I didn’t and bought something else I’d never hear the end of it from the GS riding friends.

So I went along to BMW Oxford, who kindly let me loose on their GS Rallye demo bike.
Now the Rallye is really rather pretty (for a GS!) with the blue frame and nice graphics.
It didn’t feel too tall for me, and felt much less intimidating than my friends GSA.
Once on the move the bike is beautifully balanced, it really feels much lighter than 244kg, and the up/down quickshifter was a joy to use. I headed out through Woodstock, then took the back roads into Charlbury, back towards Witney then the A40 back to Oxford. I felt immediately at home on the bike, chucking it around the roundabouts with ease. It’s on the bumpier back roads where the quality of the chassis and suspenion truly shone. It tracked round bumpy badly surfaced corners as if it was on a pristine race track. The demo bike had the ESA suspension, and on the stock Road settings it was a bit too soft for me. Dynamic gave a really good ride, not overly firm, and ironed out bumps far better than my MV!
The whole ergonomice of the bike were excellent, the seat comfortable, the screen did a good job of protecting me without causing any buffeting.

However, the bit I didn’t take a shine to was the engine. It delivers good drive throughout the rev range, but in such a totally linear way that it never felt exciting.
It is truly an excellent bike, but sadly didn’t light my fire.

Looks great Pete, love the paint job.
I see you haven’t touched the brakes yet,I remember you were thinking about upgrading them. I’ve just put a Brembo RCS master cylinder and four pot caliper on my V7, makes a huge difference, much more power and importantly feel.
