Radar tells me the legs were shaven for aerodynamics and the ankle bracelets were for his rheumatism.
Yeah, right. Still, have to say that was a great write up about the bikes mate, you are really in the wrong job.
@Rajnish – I know what you mean about the RD pulling your arms out, it’s a great sensation when you first ride one. The only other bike that did that to me was a Kwak GPZ750 turbo. Nothing till about 6000rpm then BANG – in comes the power. Love it.
imperialdataKeymasterWelcome to the forum, Shuzbutt. Nice bike the firebolt, would appreciate if you could tell us a bit more about how it rides/performs etc. Sorry to hear you’re not pleased with Buell’s dealer service. I’m surprised that it could possibly be stone damage, isn’t the belt protected? I think you’ve got a good point about it snapping in the fast lane – anywhere in fact.
Got hold of a useful address for you:
Buell Customer Service
3700 W. Juneau Avenue
Milwaukee, WI 53208To speak with a Buell customer service representative call 414-343-8400. This is an american number so obviously add the relevant dialling prefix.
If you need it, I can tell you the name of a company who I use to get 3 pence per minute calls to the USA. PM me for more details.
They quote on their US website (hidden in the depths somewhere) “Sorry, we’re unable to receive e-mail at this time.”
Hope this helps, good luck and let us know your progress as bad publicity may speed things up!
imperialdataKeymasterYou can’t fail to love these 2-strokes when you ride them as the power delivery is so different to other bikes. It makes you ride them differently, and that’s where the involvement (and hence the pleasure of riding) comes in. Bikes that are predictable yet perform better are not always better rides, I think.
And you’re right about Radar, he loves them strokers!
imperialdataKeymasterLOL, apparently Scousers wear gloves when they don’t want their fingerprints on anything []
imperialdataKeymasterI’ll pass this one over to Radar. He has had a lot of bike stories published in the UK magazines so hopefully he’ll help on that score.
For photo uploading, see the FAQ and the help topics on the home page. You are welcome to link to them but we have no upload facility as yet.
imperialdataKeymasterSounds like great fun and quite a contrast.
imperialdataKeymasterWow, you’ve left yourself so open for a rude joke. Because of the swear filter, members are invited to PM Radar with the best they can think of…..
imperialdataKeymasterThanks Tim. Why do they prefer R1’s or GSXR’s for twin BEC’s? Are they a particularly small lump?
Can you explain the advantages of drysumping and how it is achieved?
imperialdataKeymasterNice place but I have bad memories of Matlock bath. First time I’d taken the new girlfriend on the bike and I parked up, chained the helmets to the bike and stuffed the gloves inside. She said “Will the gloves be safe inside there?” I said “Sure, it’s a bit of a bikers’ code not to pinch from other bikers”. Yep, you guessed it, they were gone when I got back and I had to ride back to Birmingham gloveless. Luckily the glow of shame kept my hands warm.
Oh, and I married that girlfriend and she reminds me of my misplaced trust every few months. I just say it must have been a car driver that nicked ’em…..
imperialdataKeymasterNow that’s a screaming 2-stroke! Bagsy first go.
imperialdataKeymasterWelcome to the site Dean. Drop us a post about your bike if you get chance, I think there are some other hornet riders on here.
imperialdataKeymasterExcellent and very, very true.
imperialdataKeymasterExcellent post diablo. Really good (and funny!) stories in there, made my day. Do you write for a magazine at all? If not, I think you should try. We have a few magazines in the UK that would pay for stuff like that, especially if accompanied by photos.
PS Can’t stop calling the twisty roads “Ghats” now – just love the word!
imperialdataKeymasterThat’s quite a big upgrade, a new gearbox design in fact.
imperialdataKeymasterWelcome to the forum Tim.
Would you say that the R1 lends itself to car layout. I know that angles are critical and often the sump has to be modified because the engine sits at a different angle to when it was in the bike. What’s your engine of choice (if money were no object)?
@Katana:
That’s one hell of a loopy bike but I wouldn’t mind a test ride! - AuthorPosts
