Yo dudes, I’m a 46 (nearly 47) year old has-been that never was. I once was young and although I can’t remember that far back I know it to be true ‘cos I have the photographs to prove it. (Then again I also have a 20 year old picture of Radar ‘straining his greens’, so perhaps my photo collection is not the best point of reference). I live in a land far, far away called Norfolk, but don’t have webbed fingers ‘cos mumsy came from a real city (Nottingham) and gave me some of her DNA.
I used to exist in the automotive industry where I rose to the dizzy rank of Executive Engineer (Electrical Engineering), and integrated some prime electrical systems in my time. Following a strange twist of fate I decided that contracting was the best bet, but that only lasted 3 years before wearing a tad thin. I have recently decided to design bespoke audio equipment and my first masterpiece will be unleashed on the world soon(-ish). Fingers crossed, and if it does not take off I’ll be back, cap-in-hand, to the automotive masters.
I have 124 cars and 545 bikes and have been known to exaggerate in previous-to-last sentences. So keep smiling and toodle-pip.
GordyParticipantWMMST; well, yesterday actually; far too much Jack Daniels. Can’t remember what I was smiling about though…
GordyParticipantHe’s right mate, you really do look the same!
GordyParticipantIf you’ve got the snow we have then keep both of them tucked up and use a closer pub!
(Gordy… always full of good advice. I should listen to myself sometimes).GordyParticipantWell R, you’ve got the right bike at last, just don’t sell the 600.
(I still think that exhaust looks like a Klingon space-cruiser laser cannon!)
GordyParticipantHello matey, I really enjoyed that.
Made me smile though when they said it cost £5950… I paid about £3000 for my GPZ9 in 1984!Need more bikes on modern Top Gear.
GordyParticipantLeft finned, except if the day has a y in it.
If you eat a clown does he taste funny?
GordyParticipantNice to see you mate. I’ll be sending you an e-mail soon-ish.
I think the Kwak 900 was probably the pick of the bunch, although if I had to choose one to ride home it would have been the modern Ducati S4R.
That GS1000 would make a good base for my 2010 project… time will tell !!!
GordyParticipantShould do it every year, and make a special trip to Brunstrom’s house.
GordyParticipantThe locals might not have much money but it looks like they are still enjoying themselves. Love the exhaust on the first one!
GordyParticipantI think you might be right there slim. I’ll have to have a closer look at the fuel system. Just gotta find the time…

Radar, I really know where you are coming from! Back when we first worked together I had a 32″ waist, yet these days it’s a good 40″ around. It really does make a difference when ‘bum up and chin down’ on a race rep bike. When I last rode my (ex-) blade my tum was on the tank!!! FZ1S bekons…
GordyParticipantLooks very fine matey. Nice low mileage… still needs running in, so (…without meaning to sound patronising…) go easy on the throttle / loading for a while.
To be honest, each time I see one every ounce of common sense in me tells me that I really should buy one!
GordyParticipantHunting about on the ‘net today I found a CX500 cafe racer, a XJR1300 making 160 bhp, an apparently successful FJ1200 short circuit race bike, and a turbo Bandit 1200 engine stuffed into a GS550 frame. All of these things made me smile. Lots.
GordyParticipantAs Billy Connolly is finally outed as secret fairy biker, bemused onlooker ventures “Nice helmet mate”.
