I was wondering what are your professions? Maybe we could use our knowledge to help each other out for forum advice if needs be?

I’m a development engineer working in the automotive industry. We make the rubber seals that go around your doors, boot and bonnet etc. Its my job to productionise new busines, and I’m currently working on the Nissan Micra convertible and the Nissan Almera models.

So yes, I’m into rubber and can advise on rubbery things!

I assume Speedys a nurse and Deltic is a train driver.

    Full time mum!

Have worked in textiles, horse racing, plastic injection moulding (car industry – Rover and Honda), office work, plastics and in mould labelling (food industry), and er…..contraceptives,[:I]to name a few LOL! Not necessarily in that order LOL!

LOVE IS GIVING SOMEONE THE ABILITY TO DESTROY YOU, THEN TRUSTING THEM NOT TO.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, But rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, vacuum in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming…….WOO HOO, there goes another engine!

I did 20 years in automotive engineering starting with a 5 year apprenticeship then doing mechanical and electrical maintenance and then moving on to electronics, robotics/cnc stuff. I then took a career change and did a project management job, managed a CAD department then managed an IT department. Now I’m self-employed with 2 businesses: Electrical (domestic stuff mainly like rewiring) and Computer Data Recovery (virus removal and recovering all the files you didn’t back up before your PC crashed!). Got fed up of working for someone else (know the feeling?) and reckon it’s the best move I’ve ever made.

Oh and I run a bike forum on the Web. They are a friendly bunch but they ask too many questions……[;)]

I’m an Engineer (Mechanical/Production). Started off in automotive (Diesel pumps and injectors) but got fed with crap money and endless rounds of redundances. So went to work for a company that made home improvement products (double glasing, showers, boilers, garage doors, electrical sockets etc) looking after the supplier quality. Now I am a Quality Manager for a consumer goods company.

Forgot to add that I run a highly skilled team of leather clad biker babes called “ID’s Angels”. No job too large or small and payment by cash, cheque, chocolate or Baileys.

Yep, I do indeed drive trains, but only when I’m at work [xx(][:D][xx(]
I work for GNER, and drive anywhere on the East Coast Main Line, from Newcastle down to London, or up to either Inverness, or Aberdeen (the Scottish trips are overnighters, staying in a hotel).

Basically worked in Automotive industry all my so called career. Axles, engines, gearshift, mechanical control cables (thats clutch and handbrake basically), rubber door seals and now interior trim. I always worked on developing new products ready for market.
Had brief diversions into van driving and despatch riding, like Katana said redundancy threats is a bit of a way of life…
