you should be able to scroll through them all from there
so there we are, thats what ive got so far. at the moment im just spending hours and hours rubbing the old paint off the engine with wire wool….how cool am i!
by the way the picture of the black bandit without the engine, that whole lot is for sale if anyone is interested??basically: frame with V5 and number plate, forks, yokes, wheels, discs, swing arm, bars, body work less the tank, clocks, idiot lights, airbox + infills, rear shock, maybe not the tyres but the right offer gets the whole lot. the wiring loom will be with the sale after ive taken measurements and all that as im making my own wiring loom for the fighter.
and theres deffinitely no engine or running gear!PM me if youre interested
November 30, 2009 at 7:58 pm #59450katanaParticipantThat’s looking good mate.
Are you just using elbow grease and wire wool? When i stripped the paint of the Kats engine this stuff was the only thing that would shift the factory finish.
Make sure you get the automotive stuff though as the normal household stuff is pants. Also wear googles and gloves as the automotive stuff is bloody strong and a bit stingy in sensitive areas.
November 30, 2009 at 8:06 pm #59451BigBenParticipantcheers Kat, yeah so far its just been elbow grease and the wool…ive just got the engine cases and cam cover back from getting shot blasted though, theyre immaculate! and ready for painting straight away. but as it is the crankcases and all that are getting rubbed down. however ill probably need the stripper on the fins on the cylindar head…dont fancy rubbing that down and i cant get it blasted as everything will have to be stripped out of the hed.
got some good news too today, i had bought some adjustable cam sprockets from a GSXR1100 to fit into the bandit but they didnt seem to fit when they should have…so apparently the engine cant be te original one that the bike was churned out with, which means the bike wont have 70000 mles on the clock the camshafts arent even slightly worn too…even though im going to ditch the bandit cams and get some GSXR1100 ones fitted…make it a diddly bit faster
November 30, 2009 at 9:11 pm #59452slimParticipantHello mate
I cant browse through your facebook pics to see what you have so far for some reason (i’m computer illiterate)
if you can put up some sort of idea of what you intend to do with this one & what you’ve got i should be able to help you out with what fits what etc as ive been messing with gsxr’s & bandits for a hell of a long time
for example the gix cam sprockets wont fit the b12 camchain, plain chain as opposed to hivo chain, could have saved you a few quid there [^]
That does look to be the stock b12 engine btw so the miles are probably somewhere near right
cheers slim
November 30, 2009 at 10:39 pm #59453BigBenParticipanthi there, it should work? its a public link apparently. has anyone else had a problem viewing the pics? if so ill just post the actual pictures.
not 100% on what im doing as of yet, i had a few bits but they were nowhere near so theyre on ebay and i have some other parts coming to see if theyre nearer, using a pro link swingarm and shock.
its not the b12 engine….has the hivo camchain or whatever it is.
cheers
December 1, 2009 at 12:17 am #59454slimParticipantwhats the engine number start with v7 or gu or gv ? whats the cc block say 1157 or 1127 ? theres others but they are the 750’s & 600’s
I still say its the stock b12 in there []bandit 12 are hivo chain gsxr are plain [] if you want a little more poke gsxr1100K (1989)cams are the ones t go for but you need to change the sprockets to b12 ones in a b12 engine, you can slot those in needs be but theres no point unless you go down the dot head route

December 1, 2009 at 5:58 pm #59456BigBenParticipantnot a clue Slim, the engine is so close to be thrown across the garage!! im taking a couple of days off from it or thats what will happen.
ive spent hours rubbing the paint off the block but now its come to the point where i need the cylinder head off and the F**KING thing wont come off!!!
might be getting some gixxer cams…was having a word other day about ityou dont get these problems with a Kawasaki!!!!!!!
December 1, 2009 at 6:11 pm #59457slimParticipantAh thanks sid not having a facebook account explains why i cant view the pics.
benji if you want to throw the engine throw it this way i could do with a spare failing that once youve calmed down let me know what the problem with it is & i’ll let you know how to fix it
& you are right you dont get these problem with kwacks what you get with those is #2 piston gear making a break for freedom, either that or the gearbox crapping its pants under load
December 1, 2009 at 10:43 pm #59458BigBenParticipantoh, it said its a public link, bloody lying facebook! ill upload them all now for you guys then.
i never had that, just had electrical problems, and too much bike-road interaction…on the side.you wouldnt want it your way, itd be coming with some force! however im slightly more cheery now ive painted the engine cases…they look great. and i do say so myself
December 1, 2009 at 11:03 pm #59459BigBenParticipantNear enough as it started out.
Then i bought that bad boy on ebay!
Engine fell out.
The engine where it fell
Then came the frame “de-lugging”
Tank on.
Offering the seat up to it to see how close it was….answer, not very.
All came back off while i cleaned and rubbed down the engine.
The engine cases went away and got shot blasted, i dont have a picture of that but the finish was immaculate, especially for it costing a couple of quid to get it done…on the sly
I invested £5.39 with my trade card in a can of “very high temp” metallic black paint.
Then finally..for now, a pic of the newly shot blasted cam cover on the left, and then the metallic black painted cases on the right )
December 2, 2009 at 6:02 pm #59460imperialdataKeymasterLooking good. I like to see a project!
December 3, 2009 at 6:36 am #59461ChampsParticipantlooking nice mate, that cam cover looks superb. don’t think the cable ties holding the subframe on will pass the MOT though!
December 3, 2009 at 9:17 am #59462BigBenParticipantcheers, i thought i’d try and talk it past the MOT tester hehe
