I am not convinced of staying somewhere called ‘the barn’ !?!?
December 7, 2012 at 6:00 pm #64254ses310ModeratorI get where your coming from, but at least it’s not called ‘the shed’ !
December 8, 2012 at 10:06 am #64255ChampsParticipantJust had an ‘online’ chat with a Brittany ferry advisor. Not the easiest way of talking but I got a price of £328, for 6 bikes. 18th to santander, 19th to bilbao and 23rd are currently available but 21st has no motorcycle spots left. Annoyingly she put the return trip as 29th for all options and I have only just noticed but I think that’s what we are looking at either way.
Last time we went to Europe on the bikes the camping and caravanning club sorted all our bookings out. Might phone them Monday and see if they have a different price
December 8, 2012 at 10:17 am #64256MadsParticipant328 per person or in total because I got 293 per person including cabins
December 8, 2012 at 11:04 am #64257ChampsParticipantPer person, is your price based on 21st because that’s full?
December 8, 2012 at 11:22 am #64258ses310ModeratorAfter having a good look about that place you found Champs is looking the best location and price. Only thing I couldn’t find was if there is any parking for the bikes
December 8, 2012 at 11:24 am #64259ChampsParticipantWell mine will stay in the living room because she doesn’t like being outside
On a serious note, I never really checked. But that website is full of properties in that area
December 8, 2012 at 11:34 am #64260ses310ModeratorWill have to do a bit more digging then, there is the owners mobile numbers listed on the site so might be worth asking
December 8, 2012 at 2:46 pm #64261ChampsParticipantI have contacted the owner by email about the property I posted, asking about availability and parking details.
I will let you know what you want to know when I know what they know… you know?
December 8, 2012 at 2:52 pm #64262ses310ModeratorLooking forward to you knowing what they know so that I will know and then we’ll all know
December 8, 2012 at 5:32 pm #64263ChampsParticipantFound another option, although on the expensive side, does include breaky and evening meal
Personally I would rather go for self catering due to various dietary requirements but its am idea

December 8, 2012 at 5:49 pm #64264ses310ModeratorThats not too bad really…. See what that first one comes back with. I’d rather go self catering too, got lots more options then
Was having a look at some routes and came across this
I can download any of those routes and put them onto my satnav so could be handy.
December 8, 2012 at 7:17 pm #64265MadsParticipantHow about the following:
Route Portsmouth to Bilbao Bilbao to Portsmouth
Departure Sun 23 Jun 2013 22:30 Tue 2 Jul 2013 10:30
Arrival Tue 25 Jun 2013 07:45 Wed 3 Jul 2013 09:15£1338 = £223 each but again, does not include any cabins. The only other thing is that it means having to book an extra 2 days off work.
Edit: with cabins, it comes to £1758 = £293 each
Champs – this is what mine was.
December 8, 2012 at 10:23 pm #64266ChampsParticipantOkay, so if we land Tuesday morning and ride to Pamplona for Tuesday night then onto base camp for Wednesday night.
Leave base camp Monday morning, back to Pamplona Monday night before an early run to Bilbao for Tuesday morning.
December 9, 2012 at 8:41 pm #64267ChampsParticipantOkay so I have been in contact with the owner of …
https://www.ownersdirect.co.uk/france/fr11616.htm?cid=E_inqconfirm_DB_T__Property_LPROP__
Its available at present, there is no driveway for parking however she believes we can park up on the next door neighbours drive, although she will confirm of we need.
Personally, I think this is the better option. Regardless of parking (that’s what locks are for), this has location, availability and cheapness, plus it looks good.
I am also concerned since Brittany ferries are already getting booked up. I think we need to push on a firm plan over the next two weeks
