Hi everybods’. I’ve done it, it’s finally arrived. Let me tell you about my “NEW BIKE”, I’m sure you’ve all been dying to know, “Tell us Toggsy” Pleeeaaase, I hear you all screaming, OK maybe not.
Well I’m gonna tell you anyway……..
Saturday 15th January In the Year 2005 of out Lord.
“The Day The Ninja Came Home”
ZX6R F1 NinjaWell the day started nice and early, 06.30. Mi’ good old pals Radar and Thumper had agreed to join me for the jaunt down to Ashford Kent to pick up the new member of the Toggsy Family.
The X Type (It’s the one with no exhaust if anyone wants to know) did Thumper proud. 190 miles in 2hrs and 35mins and we didn’t break the speed limit once “Honest Osifer”, we arrived just after 10.00, 55mins early, That’s got to be a first for Thumper, (me too for that matter) oh and probably radar too.
Of course nobody was in………..
Frank (previous owner) had taken it out for one last farewell ride, “THRASH”, in other words, he had washed it though, so I forgive him,Anyhow,
We heard him coming round the corner (that twin outlet Viper Exhaust does sound nice although I do say so myself), he pulled up and we all had a good look at it, then the “Double Decker” ( It’s Purple and Mauve you see, Cadburys Double Decker colours) jokes started flowing, Cheers Thumper… (I’m sure they Sponsored a Racing team once apon a time, Well if they didn’t then they should have) I Like it anyway.
Oh and buy the way if either Thumper or Radar post anything about Handgrip warmers of glove warmers, or anything like that anywhere on the Forum “It’s All Lies”, I never said that OK (well that’s my story anyway)We did the deed and set off on the 190mile journey back, Filled her up with juice and we were off up the M20.
95 most of the way apart from the odd time when, I’d see a BMW and, well, you just have to don’t you, it’s rude not to, don’t ya think. She sat there in the outside lane like an arrow, smooth and steady. Took her up to 120 a couple of times, Lots of BMW’s on Motorway’s nowadays, hehehehehe!
First Drama:
Got to the Dartford Tunnel, Well how was I to know that Motorcyclists were supposed to use the far left hand kiosk, they don’t say that on the approach, do they Eh Eh! Gits, it just says Motorcyclists FREE, so, after crossing 8 lanes at 90 degrees in front of all those oncoming BMW Drivers that I had just overtaken, tail between my legs, secretly givin’ em the V’s up went the barrier and Were off again,
Thumper and Radar, (Radar was driving by the way) were ahead of me now, so had to catch them, they slowed down for me though bless him I was quite glad really because the Helmet whistles a bit at 120.
Next stop Toddington Services on the M1 and the inevitable had to be said:
“Thee Olympic Breakfasts please” (great ain’t they) After half an hour wait, (well they were busy, there were Ooooo lets see at least 10 other people in the restaurant, they arrived and and so did the tea (well it’s free top up you see, and yes you guessed it, it’s rude not to), So 1 Olympic Breakfast and 14 cups of tea later, were off again after filling up, worked out she’d done about 40 to the gallon ( I think that’s pretty good myself doing 90 – 120 most of the time).Thumper took over the driving from here, Opened her up a few times for the last few miles well don’t forget, 14 cups of tea, old man, cold day…….. you guessed it “God I need a pee” took her up to needle shy of 150 looked in rear mirror when slowed down to 100 and who could I see still a very respectable (Yeh that’s close) distance behind was Thumper with his foot sticking out of the footwell of the Jag and I know he was smiling………… You see Thumper “ it doesn’t matter how many exhausts you’ve got”
Next stop….. services – Pee, Aaaahhhhh! Needed that, next stop….. services – peee, Aaaahhhhh! needed that, next stop….. services – peeee, Aaaahhhhh! needed that, then Corley, – Peeeee, Aaaahhhhh! Needed that.
Found out that Thumper had had his S Type up to 133, Radar’s got photo of it for prostate….. Well done Thumper, it’s on it’s way to the local Constabulary the next time you call Radar Sausage Fingers or Hump back, You just never learn do ya’
Off we go again, after top up, didn’t bother calculating MPG this time, that’s for Diesel drivers.
Thumper took the lead this time, and did he hold back, did he B*llocks, straight up to 130, git, well, had to give it a go, think it was 150 plus, didn’t look I was too busy trying to see Thumpers face, I did catch his brake lights going on out the corner of my eye, looked forward and a Bloomin’ Astra was pulling out into the outside lane, “Brakes work” (Thank God)
That was it really last few miles farly uneventful from M42 to Home,So to Sum it up……………..

January 28, 2005 at 12:35 pm #22404barmy_carmyParticipantWell we can get 120 mph out of our FZX 750, this is before derestriction! after derestriction it should do 145 mph thats 30 bhp more with derestriction and another 5 -10 bph for sports exhaust.
So in total it should have 95 bhp. So who wants to come out and play.No1 ride, our FZX750
January 28, 2005 at 8:30 pm #22405RadarModeratorMy FZ750,same engine as the FZX but in a sports bike frame, topped with a seat as comfortable as having a flick knife up your chuff, would pull 145 very easily. Some left too. Fantastic engine. Handling was OK, but the brakes were a bit weak when I turned up the wick a bit.
Why are Yamahas so good?January 29, 2005 at 2:27 pm #22406barmy_carmyParticipantquote:

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, But rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, Vodka in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming…….WOO HOO, what a ride!
