LOVE IS GIVING SOMEONE THE ABILITY TO DESTROY YOU, THEN TRUSTING THEM NOT TO.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, But rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, Vodka in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming…….WOO HOO, what a ride!
So long as Superman is throwing the stone!
Everybody knows Strafford is MUCH closer to John O Groats!!

No problem I’ve been meaning to go to Bassett’s the last two weeks but weather has been iffy and the Bandit has been poorly – badly siezed rear caliper (winter riding!) just got it sorted and nice new pads fitted just got to do fronts and change the fluid then it’s all systems go for stratford.
just an idea there was a big bike shop opened up a couple of years ago on your right before you get into stratford proper, by all the industial estates as you come in from Birmingham anyone know it – could be a good meeting point as I think they have a cafe etc and it’s pretty easy to find/park etc (and easy to see from main road too)___________________________

April 20, 2005 at 10:52 pm #26000GSF K1ParticipantPingu.. I’m due to service my Bandit anytime now.. what oil you using??? Cant decide if to go fully sinthetic or if sinth-based will do.. not like I’m taking it to 14krpm.

April 22, 2005 at 8:12 pm #26001PINGUParticipantSuzuki recommends normal SAE 10W/40 oil, reasons being you have a wet clutch and synthetic oil may cause it to slip (happens more on the 1200 tho) anything with whats known as ‘Friction modifiers’ added can cause this problem.
Change oil at about 3000-4000 miles and change the filter after every *other* oil change as recommmended by Suzuki (your own choice if you ask me!)
hope that helps GSF.___________________________
Elvis is dead…get over it!April 22, 2005 at 8:55 pm #26002GSF K1ParticipantYeh I read the owners manual and Haynes book which clearly warn about the use of car oils due to the slip agents which knacker up wet clutches.. and I know that either 10-40/15-40 oils are fine in our climate, but is it really necessary to go fully synthetic on an engine which peaks out at 9.5krpm.. its not like I’m pulling 14krpm regularly.. therefore is semi-synth really going to make much difference??? (Apart from the cost.. I’m broke!!!)

April 22, 2005 at 10:38 pm #26003prezzoParticipantmy engine is tuned to the hilt and even all the work shops said only ever use semi synt no matter what bike. never normal engine oil bacause the surface of the crankshaft on a bike it not large enough where a car engine crank is much larger and does not revolve anything like a bike..

They work really hard with negligable oil in the crankcase at any one time.
Bloomin’ clever those designers who make it look so simple.April 23, 2005 at 12:51 pm #26005imperialdataKeymasterOi Thumper – You didn’t tell me there was no oil in yer bike before you let me loose on it!!
