    Hi all.

I’ve taken the decision that I’m going to sell my GPZ500S. I bought this back in January as I needed something to keep my clean hands dirty (I wanted a project bike), but since then I’ve had a house move and a baby.. my hands are now always dirty !!!!!
When I bought the bike she was in a right state (lack of TLC and fuelling trouble), and not entirely road worthy, but with some time, effort and know-how, she’s now a cracking runner.

    Ok.. the stats…

1996 bike, imported in 1998 with just over 20k miles on the clock. I know its an import because it has hazard lights and the carbs didnt have the carb-heating system.
    MOT till Aug 31st 2010
    Tax till Sept 2010
Comes with a Givi rack & box.

    So what have I done??????
Full service in the spring, oil, filters, plugs etc..
Breaks stripped and cleaned (rear caliper freed off and lub’d), new fluid front & rear.
Replaced exhaust headers with stainless set (2nd hand).
Front forks stripped and re-oiled (20W)
Rear shock adjusted (they’re typically very soft)
Valve clearances checked and adjusted (last month)
Head stock bearings stripped, regreased and tensioned (last month)
UK spec carbs obtained, stripped, cleaned and fitted (and balanced). Carb heating pipework obtained and fitted.

Pictures below taken this afternoon after having been on a good run, she was a bit bug-splatted..

Ok.. the not so pretty bits.. she’s clearly had low speed (or static) drops on both sides, with damage to the fairing on the left hand side and some minor marks on the right…..

and obvious scratches to the exhaust on that side….

The other side is in better shape…

Clocks showing mileage.. and also showing crack…

Plenty of life left in the tyres too…

Ok.. so if you’re interested, shes a solid machine which will make 115mph (so I’m told Mr.officer), return over 50mpg, will be very reliable and comfy… perfect for a commuter or someone inexperienced… (or short)
I have some spares, (and the belly pan which I couldnt line up after fitting the exhaust headers)

Offers in the region of £950

Drop me a message if you have any questions.

    Del.

Gotta clean it again.. went on a club run on Wednesday, it was pretty soggy out, but better to ride than the Ninja if the weathers poor.
