yes u need to check the carbs,i’ve a feeling tht the free flow filter is leaning things in the mid range, try to bring the needle to richest,if bike runs better in mid range,u need bigger pilot,if mid is poor and top goes better then may be mains.

if choke improves the bike then try bigger jets, also which clip are u using for the carb needles?i think the needle position is at fault,or maybe the filter wants bigger jets as gas ratio leans out in the midrange.is the bike on cdi?

just read this thread, what a write up!man, radar ur a bigger fan of the RD,kudos.i remember the time when in 92 i was a 14 yrs ond boy,the RD’s production was stopped and india was without a world class bike.tht year i had learnt driving and riding bikes, they were all 100cc or less,a boy living in the same locality gets a used 88 model RD,i saw him popping wheelies, beg him to let me try it.he makes fun of me,i go stubborn and finally get the ride,it almost pulls ur arms out, shoves you back and floats the front end,i was scared and was shaking like hell, loved the feel.u guys r lucky to have so many models of the pocket rocket :-)

a LC 500 will be awsome,i’ve seen on the net what the tuners in UK and US do to the RD’s.turn them into superbike eaters.hope tht i’ll own one of these jets too.radar seems to be a real 2 stroke addict.

i had a 500 sometime back in india.it’s a simple bike to own and ride, torquey, vibrates at high speeds, good for a cruise, now has a front disc, have heard tht they r upgrading it like the 350 with a left side gear and 5 gears too.

LOL good to see tht ppl share this view even today when there r so many big multi’s avbl.a friend of mine has a air cooled 250 with front and rear disc,he has thrown in the 350 barrels on it.bike makes power like hell now, pulls like anything.
We got the aircooled ones, similar to the US spec 1973 model.very tempramental throttle, hoists the front in first anytime.pulls like anything after 5k rpm.
