    So…

400’s are the perfect step up from a 125, but are hard to get a hold of, and hard to get parts for

500’s are good but there’s only a few 500’s I can think id even want

600’s are great but are expensive…

    what to do.. :(

Actually, did you hop onto an R6 for your first bike? :S
(I know this is slightly off-topic… but it IS a question about filtering..so.. :P)

pah, i’ve always been R6_Bird!!! hehe…had the R6 before i took test! well even before my CBT! went from zero to supersport.
I’m constantly filtering through slow moving traffic commuting, but the A14 and M25 was at high speeds.oh new top speed 145mph! hehe.[:D]

see!! If a girl can do It I’m pretty sure me, a Man could get right onto a sports machine after my test without any trouble :P

*oh dear.. I’m going to get beaten now…hehe*

Did you find it hard jumping right onto the super mad R6? A lot of people poo-poo the idea of a novice leaping before they can crawl, so to speak… and it’s sending me mixed messages about what to do!

Yes I should mention kids, DON’T speed… just because a road looks like it’s a 40 zone, and is a dual carriage way, and should be a 40 zone… doesn’t mean it is -_-

In short, watch out for road signs hidden by over growth, hedges, vandalism, and trees

I agree there, because they do NOT tell you that at any sort of speed the steering, essentially, reverses…

Now what happens if a CBT-er goes out on the road at the end of the day, get’s into a pickle and thinks “Right, I better swerve to the left otherwise I’m going to crash”
So they grab the bars and yank them to the left, and they, to their surprise, rocket to the right into on coming traffic… game over.

Well, it looks to be brightening up outside so off to lay some expensive rubber on the tarmac[;)]

I hate you :P and your weather!

Wet up here :< horrible soggy roads and nothing but cloud... :<
    Have fun hun x

Anyway, the thing putting me off a 600 is, Weight of the machine, Price, and Insurance costs.

Yeah, but it’s different for girls :P you put your helmet on back to front remember? :P hehe

I didn’t think I really needed to specify having conscious knowledge of doing it, I would have thought that was obvious I was talking about it :P hehe

I was very lucky though, I got taught how to counter steer on my intensive course, and as a rule people are not usually taught this unless they are on a DAS (so my instructor tells me)

Thank you gixybaby! :P if only all of life’s problems could be solved with a sticker hehehe

Also, 500’s are a good route are they not? And to my understanding parts are plentiful, right?

I’ve actually sat on a 500 machine before and found it worlds more stable than the 125, that extra weight somehow makes it feel safer, stronger, and like it has more control and stability at speeds greater than 50mph.

My test I took about 2 months ago, I failed but here’s an outrun of what they COULD do to catch you out.

Took me to a street for the U-turn that looked very narrow but was actually fine, it just had flat curbs and a few cars and trees that made it looked narrow…

Anyway I pushed the bike around and got on it and about 20 teenagers from the school were out for lunch… why oh why they go around in packs is beyond me…

Anyway they were walking in the middle of the road… VERY slowly and slackish…
they got to me and started kicking the bike, asking for a ride… shouting abuse at me and the examiner… if I was on my own I would have kicked the shit our of the cocky little c**ts. This was very off putting, but I still managed to do the U turn… hehehe U turn god me ;)

Anyway he took me to an unmarked one way system… and said “turn right here” if I had, I would have gone down the wrong lane… but I caught on and did it fine :P

He also took me along a dual carriage way, but one of the lanes was a bus lane…
so I kept in the right hand lane… but the bus lane wasn’t in use.. so he failed me for riding in the wrong lane.. Bastard, to be fare the times on the bus lane weren’t even shown. But they don’t care

Instructors are anal and annoying sly and deceptive, treat them like an enemy!
and PRAY you get stuck in heavy traffic, remember the test is only 40 minutes long, and as long as you have done the u-turns and emergency stops, the rest is just observing your riding for 40 minutes or so, and if you get stuck in traffic for half an hour, there’s NOTHING he can do about it :) and you get away with a piss easy test yay!

    That’s really good Gix :)

    But you forgot one thing…

Counter steering is bloody well amusing on a 50mph sweeping-country-road-corner! :D you get a buzz like no other when you first do it… it’s fantastic :)
