Sounds bad – lets hope that AMG are able to re-group….
Good luck to Ed and all the MV ownerselessimoParticipantStill bitter and twisted about that…
Anyway, nice review Steve, interesting bike and looks like you might be tempted if the price was right. You’re certainly getting through the bikes to test. What’s next?
Thanks Dave: yes if I had the dosh the CCM would be perfect for me around the pot-holed Forest lanes. Have to see what happens at work….
Next I’m looking at the new Multistrada Enduro, the Super Tenere or maybe another KTM.elessimoParticipantThe one with the big pane of glass…. :o
Looks like perspex to me, but still mad: the pressure must have been intense over about 10mph….. ???
No definitely glass – a Lorry windscreen
Gulp…but at least it will be ‘safety-glass’ – toughened or laminated…
Bloody heavy, though…. :o

See you on Sunday the 17th April – Prescott Bike Festival? Great event, but needs a few more MVs….
I really fancy going to that, keep reminding me! How about this one on the 3rd of April:
Unavailable on 3rd April – driving students to Sheffield Uni….
elessimoParticipantGood long-term review.
As a TDM rider I sympathise about the low-speed jerkiness. An ECU map is the one strategy I haven’t tried yet. The several other mods have each incrementally improved fuelling until I can’t justify spending any more spondulicks to get a diminishing return.
So now while at low speeds I’m either accelerating or over-running (and enjoying the Beowulf burble), rather than smoothly pootling. That’s why I try to keep out of towns and traffic….
I will have to have a bimble on your TDM
No problem – next time, eh?

elessimoParticipantYes, I’ve heard the story….
Bought it, but never made it home if I recall properly….. Blew up?!
Must admit I love the looks of those R30s – I’ve seen a lime green one at Huntley a couple of times: looks like a huge praying mantis – wonderful!

elessimoParticipantLooks like you enjoyed this bike too, good varied selection this year, Honda, Harly and CCM
I can see you on one of these
Varied indeed, Radar! I think the CCM is the funnest of them all….
elessimoParticipantBe good to meet up and say hello. Mini MV meet!
Sure, will let you know neare the time if I’m definitely going.
Jed was too late to ride the hill, but I’ll definitely be going….
elessimoParticipantThanks for pointing this out, have booked to go with my son.
Excellent! Let’s hope it’s dry again.
Last year was a scorcher……elessimoParticipantNice review. I’ve looked at this at the NEC and London shows and have been very impressed, if I was in the market for this type of bike I’d definitely be considering this.
I’ve got a Harley test ride coming up some time, waiting for the Oxford branch to contact me.
I’ve always been a total Harley hater (overweight underpowered tractors), but have been lured in by their holiday competition. Maybe I’ll see the lightTheir competition lured me too, but it was more the £5000 than the holiday (my off days are all booked up).
Don’t try a Softail Heritage unless you like wide barges with vague steering. Cracking engine though…elessimoParticipantNice review, thanks Steve. Looks a good bike all round. I had kind of forgotten about the Africa Twin of late with the proliferation of BMWs, KTMs etc. The original must have been one of the bikes that kicked off this whole adventure touring theme.
I never rode an old AT, but as you say Dave, they were the best adventure bikes available at one time.
This new model is really nice: if it had a shaft drive it might have been perfect. It still joins the old Explorer at the top of my wish list.
It’ll be interesting to see how the 2016 Mk2 Explorer stacks up against it….elessimoParticipantWhere?
Convert the conservatory, that would be popular i am sure…or on the decking?
I’m gonna tell Debs on you!
