have just spent another £65 on this so will probably keep it now lol, gotta stop soon tho, the graphics to get done properly are gonna cost inc the one off design over £200 then the new plastics and the bits I’ve just ordered lol, tis gonna be worth way more than its ever gonna be worth! lol []
January 5, 2011 at 7:14 pm #61886HippoDronesParticipantGave my airbox a scrub, was gonna go with a cone filter but it would still have needed half the box and then re-jetting probably so this way is cheaper and it works!
January 8, 2011 at 1:54 pm #61887RadarModeratorSounds reasonable Pete, why spend when you dont have to?
January 8, 2011 at 4:06 pm #61888HippoDronesParticipantgot most of my new plastics through today, still waiting on the number board to turn up tho
January 8, 2011 at 4:26 pm #61889imperialdataKeymasterMmmm, black. Is that a plastic border collie too?
January 8, 2011 at 5:46 pm #61890HippoDronesParticipanthahaha yes, yes it is! []
January 9, 2011 at 2:10 pm #61891HippoDronesParticipantHave gotten a new seat cover today, spent some time earlier removing the old one
, am now wishing I’d not left the seat on the floor in the shed lol [grim] []The old cover:
Removing the staples:
Just like pass the parcel:
And in its naked skankiness:
I’ve put the seat in the airing cupboard in an attempt to dry it out a bit before trying to fit the new cover
January 9, 2011 at 7:18 pm #61892HippoDronesParticipantThe seat foam has dried out a bit now so have attacked it with a staple gun and gotten the new cover fitted. It was quite fiddly trying to stretch it enough to line it up evenly and it isn’t quite the same both sides but only out by a little bit so am not too bothered.
I have also painted the footpegs which are dry now:
January 10, 2011 at 12:15 am #61893RadarModeratorNeat job on the seat cover, can you sell the old one to recover some funding…it still looks newish
January 10, 2011 at 6:23 am #61894HippoDronesParticipantI may ask on the KTM forum if anyone wants it. think it is reasonably new tbh so may be worth a couple of quid
January 16, 2011 at 3:40 pm #61895HippoDronesParticipantTook the plastics over to have the graphics templates made up, really looking forward to seein how the design comes along for them!
Today I took the powervalve apart, wish I’d done it while the engine was out as I needed to move the engine back to clear the frame. Got the valve assembly out and gave it a clean up
I have realised I have lost a few bits and bobs (if they were fitted originally tat is) so am about to get checking on some part numbers and order some bits
Oh, the last lot of parts turned up the other day that I’d ordered before Christmas, means once I have some mechanical bits sorted I’ll be able to pretty much fully assemble the bike, although I’ll have to take all the plastics off to apply the decals when they are completed.
January 16, 2011 at 8:49 pm #61896RadarModeratorMore good progress. Shouldn’t be too long before you have the old girl back on the road!
January 16, 2011 at 9:07 pm #61897katanaParticipantLookin’ good Pete. I haven’t had a bike project this winter (as the 110 year old lathe I’m rebuilding takes up too much room). You’ve inspired me to sort out the few jobs on the Kat that kept it off the road last year.

January 19, 2011 at 3:37 pm #61899HippoDronesParticipantam currently waiting on https://gfxdesigns.moonfruit.com/ to finish with my plastics and get the full design finalised, what I have seen so far is looking very promising! []
In the mean time I’ve been spending on ebay:
