A Nottinghamshire company has taken on new staff after winning an order to make what is thought to be the smallest production car in the world.

Grasshopper has won an order worth £200,000 to make 10 Peel P60 and Trident microcars, which have three wheels and a top speed of 35mph (56kph).

The Sutton-in-Ashfield based company’s main business is making golf buggies. It has now taken on two more staff to add to its workforce of eight.

BBC East Midlands Today’s Mike O’Sullivan spoke to managing director Rob Moor and test driver Richard Tamtrill

Quirky, and I really hope they do well. They don’t seem to be pushing the ‘design and materials’ boundaries though, it would be great to hear of a UK company competing with other countries that use the latest available technologies.
