Greetings all, how the devil are you?? It’s been a wee while since i was last on here but then i haven’t really been up to much on the forums of late, as some of you well know I’m registered on about 10 different forums and between them i think my post count for the past 6 months is no more than 50!!

That aside, 2011 has been a year of many up’s and downs, i got promoted in work, fitted a few new bits to the gixer on the up’s.

The downs are rather more serious, my better half, Hafs, was diagnosed with breast cancer in January. She’s since had an operation to remove the lump & 24 of the 30 lymph glands she had in her armpit and has started her chemo 3 weeks ago. She had the 2nd session on Thursday.

As we all know, one of the side effects of chemo is that you lose your hair. Hafs is no exception to that rule. Those of you who know me will vouch for the “in for a penny, in for a pound” ethos i swear by, and so with Hafs loosing her hair, I’m loosing mine!!

A full body wax for charity is the order of the day. Of course i’d be stupid to do this just for Hafs so i’m doing it for two charities too, Macmillan Cancer Support & Southampton Hospitals Charity.

I don’t like to do things by halfs and so I’m making this one big….. Two shindigs, two venues, 265 miles apart in one evening!! Obviously, due to time/motion/logistics, i can only be at one place so i’ll be here in Southampton while a very good friend of mine will be running the show in North Wales.

Down south we’ve got two bands playing, a raffle which is promising to be rather large with some fantastic prizes and a few other bits and bobs going on to keep you amused until and after the main event!

Up north is still in the planning stages right now so i’ll get back to you all once everything is in place.

If you’d like to come along and support the 15 or so of us being waxed on the 1st of July:

If you’re not on facebook or would like more info, just send me a PM and i’ll get back to you ASAP!!

In the mean time, it doesn’t matter if you’ve got boobs or moobs, a bloke or bird(both women and men can get breast cancer), 13 or 83, 30AA or 40GG, please ladies and gents, check yourselves. The best start to a successful treatment and making a full recovery is early diagnosis.

A huge thanks to you all,

    All the very best.

    Speedy!

P.S. If you’re unsure of how to check yourselves, just google “breast self examination”. Cheers.

Good to see you again Speedy I just wish the news was better for Hafs. As I said on BC my sister was doagnosed with Breast cancer at 33 too and 16 years on is still going strong.

Great ideas for fund raising. I doubt I can make either as much as the prospect of seeing you suffer appeals!

I am busy for the next few days but will chip in then
