April 4, 2006 at 5:45 pm #47292LeviathanRanParticipantthat’s the problem, it was in an accident and is in a right old state, and I’ve still got 2 years to pay off on the finance and a bike that is horrible and broken
I got hit by a Mini-bus driver you see, and he pretty much wrote the bike off…
April 4, 2006 at 5:54 pm #47293GixParticipantI am sure XV or Beast will be able to offer some advice on what you can do to rectify the problem as Beast is 6ft4 and XV is 6ft7 and both ride cruiser/chop types, both guys have done alot of modifying work in the past too.[]
April 4, 2006 at 5:57 pm #47294LeviathanRanParticipantYeah, but not to a 125 I’ll bet? I hope they can offer a non expensive solution…
April 4, 2006 at 6:01 pm #47295GixParticipantWell They had to start small….everyone does! And dont worry about non expensive solutions….they are both Yorkshire lads![:o)][]
April 4, 2006 at 6:02 pm #47296GixParticipantI sooooo know I am going to pay for that last comment…..[][:0][:o)]

April 4, 2006 at 8:17 pm #47299LeviathanRanParticipantso anyway, can anyone give me some info to read up on, about extending foot controls? or anything similar? I don’t want to have to perch myself on the back seat…

This could be an option, take the bike to a small local toolmakers or engineers, they might be able to come up with something. As Max said it might cost. I would try to remove the standard gear ready for refitting when you come to sell the bike.
April 4, 2006 at 11:55 pm #47301katanaParticipantThey do a load of stuff here for the GZ125
https://www.madproducts.com/acatalog/
just type GZ125 into the search box.
Couldn’t find forward controls specificaly for the GZ although thet do carry universal ones?
Retractable” standard forward control kit Universal
Price: £164.58Might be worth giving them a ring – not cheap though!
April 4, 2006 at 11:56 pm #47302LeviathanRanParticipantWell I was thinking, could I adjust the gear lever’s position and angel?
Like at the moment it is pointing upwards towards the handle bars, could I rotate it so that it’s at the same degree that say a commuter would be? Same for the back-brake too?
I’m sure I read that these can be adjusted.here’s a crude diagram
with my foot in the position it is too far under the peg and my ankle rests on the peg at full tilt, so I can not tilt it back far enough to initiate the gear change, without lifting my entire leg off the peg and pulling it back towards my body.
Where as if I sit on the back seat there is no problem what so ever.I’m sure if I changed the angel it was on so that it met my foot like a sports bike pedal, where the gear lever goes under the peg slightly, rather than way above it.
I hope I’m being clear

I spotted a small custom bike specialist in Aldridge on the northern side of Birmingham called Route66. I don’t know if they are any good to be honest, but they might be the kind of place that could help, or know somebody that could.

April 5, 2006 at 12:07 am #47305LeviathanRanParticipanthere, like this in this short flash animation I just made,
you need flash to view it
https://neoneko.co.uk/foot.htm
