Would a “County Class Tank” 4-4-2 be more suitable on the football field, or best suited to pull a football special?

Yes the weather and road conditions came as a bit of a surprise for January,so likewise the open road beckoned, I was really amazed at the number of bikes at the Quatford Cafe (Bridgnorth, Shrops)and counted close on sixty. It was a strange sort of day, no one I saw was travelling at breakneck speeds, the roads were completely dry but appeared to have a slightly dusty look and feel about them, and caution seemed the best option as the tyres didn’t feel as if they were working up to the required temperature. All in all, after a shorter than usual break, and with confidence lacking somewhat I am glad I took the smaller bike out, as it was one of those days when yes it was great to get out there again, but a few minor errors due to my lack of attention said take it easy this COULD be a great year, and if so, wait for those heady warmer days when conditions are BEGGING for a long Sunday blast. I look forward to meeting up with other Forum Members in the coming months.

Well with “Big Irons” now being capable of whats approaching 3 times the maximum speed limit as are the latest ‘normal’ Super Cars one must wonder what the future holds. Several times in the past legislation has tried to put a limit on either BHP or Max speed where as manufacturers continue to push the envelope. The way that I see it is this, if developments expand the horizon, certain elements wash back down into what become “standard” machinery. If I think back the 500 Suzuki I owned was capable of a claimed 115 MPH Max with 44BHP and I remember it averaged 30MPG, as we know modern 500’s will do 115MPH and do return twice the MPG. If developments are allowed to continue machinery can only become more fuel efficient. So if someone wishes to claim what appear to be outlandish MPH and MPG figures good luck to them in achieving their goal as any developments may impact on “standard” machinery once again. Yet again what are your views?.

Sure makes an interesting change to see a movie with bikers in the forefront of the storyline. Definately one to watch.

Well that “125” sure doesn’t sound like a 125 to me! It’s surely a 500 single, and pure race bred at that. Other than that I can see why the 400 class has such a dedicated following with their nimbleness and excellent handling.

I see, varied machines for varied uses eh! Must say your using an electric scooter for nipping out does sound like a good idea when you think about how frequently the car is used for short local trips especially so when local traffic only runs at a near snails pace, interesting thought that! Enjoy the Beemer, I recently wondered how much longer my riding career would continue and considered a Beemer but went in another direction with a GSX-R1000 K7 IOM TT, WHAT A THRILL! Just hope that the bike doesnt finish me off, it would be all too easy if my “attention to roadcraft detail” hadn’t increased in line with the GSX-R1000’s performance over that of what I’m used to, my other machine, my 1999 GSX-R600.
