The chap to my left with the RD350 T-Shirt is my brother, Mark, currently he’s riding an ’04 Ducati Monster, which I’ve yet to try, but MAY shortly be getting something thats fast tourer/ sports/hyper sports.

MOT time has come and gone without incident.

Followed Radars lead I took her to Chadwick Bank MOT Station Nr Stourport-on-Severn Worcestershire, where a new certificate was issued. There was an advisory, for a front tyre at 1.6mm, but that was no suprise as I asked them to check it the previous day, at only approx 1000 miles a year that may last until next year.

Were you thinking of touring Europe yourself ses? The nearest I got were bike rallies that took in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany in the early 80’s with Shatterford Motorcycle Club near Kidderminster.

Thought I’d try the 1000 with the baffles out, after just 5 miles I realise that its far too load for the road.

Yes, I can kind of see, how, in a mad moment, you could get something totally wrong, thinking back I’ve had a few mad moments myself. That thread goes on for 69 pages!. I especially liked the following post on page 3 :-first you’ll need to prop the tank up, then remove the airbox. place some dynamite right there on top of the throttle bodies and reassemble. make sure your wick is long enough to run away from shrapnel. ignite the explosives and run like hell. make sure you’re doing this in a remote location. after the explosion, go back and find any pieces of the bike leftover that have the VIN number on it and take them with you. call your insurance company and report it stolen. get paid and buy a new bike.

The 15″ tube was what they where contained in when parachuted out of aircraft during the latter part of The Second World War.

The one above is on show at the Aerospace Museum at Cosford.

I recall that a few years back say 2005/6 that Yamaha ran one or two smaller capacity 2WD bikes in the Paris-Dakar Rally I seem to remember they retired early on in the event and the smaller capacity and extra weight hindered them somewhat.

Maybe the BMW would be better suited with slash/cut pipes.
