Donate – Or Imperial Data will have you sorted!RadarModeratorDoes the sad demise of MG Rover mean that Triumph Motorcycles are now the largest independently owned vehicle manufacturer in the UK?
I have run a Rover 600, an 800 and a 75. Liked all of them.

Donate – Or Imperial Data will have you sorted!RadarModeratorRoll up, while she contemplated her next move. The GSX-R was glinting in the sun, when she heard the distinctive bark coming from a pair of GSX-R motors.
Then up rolled Speedy Claire and Barmy Carmy astride two identical black GSX-R1000s. They too where dressed in black, just like Gix.
Gixer looked at their backs as they parked up and got off the bikes.
On the back of both sets leathers was written id silver leather;
“ID’s Angels”
Speedy strolled up to Gix and said,
“Put out that roll up, we’ve got biking to save”
With that Gixer leapt back on her bike and then all three glistening black missles roared out of the car park and…

Did that read 150? For some reason it showed up as “questionmark50”
When I go back I’ll probably do that; get the shims checked and full service. How about R1 brake calipers? Would they fit/could i get a bracket to convert them to my bike? But the FZ disc is a bit thicker. Or should I just go with the 17″models calipers? Are they 2pot?
And another thing I heard: if you leave the bike for too long without running it, if there’s petrol left over in the carbs it can corrode the actual carb body.. is that true??
Yes one hundred and fifty pounds.
Thumper, another Forum member has loads of experience cleaning out carbs on a bike after a long lay up.
Check out how he got on by dropping him a PM.

Changed the R1 for a new GSXR1000 in April. Awesome. I cannot believe how quick it is, yet it is easy to ride slowly, too and is actually comfortable for such a beast.
Given up on C4. Too many bores there.
(PS the new Monaro VXR 6.0 is fantastic!)Give us more gen on the GSX-R!
That C4 forum is Ok. But this one is MUCH MUCH better!
You are right about the Monaro – do you have of those too you lucky s*d?

Donate – Or Imperial Data will have you sorted!RadarModeratora gush of wind (don’t). Suddenly she was dressed again the chocolate had gone and a voice from nowhere boomed…
“Gixerwomwen superhero it has fallen to save biking as we know it!”
She glanced in a mirror and she was now dressed in black leathers from head to toe, and on the rode stood a black GSX-R1000K5.
“Take it the bike”
Continued the voice…
“It will know where to go”
Gixer climbed aboard and the k5 roared off to…

LOVE IS GIVING SOMEONE THE ABILITY TO DESTROY YOU, THEN TRUSTING THEM NOT TO.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, But rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, Vodka in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming…….WOO HOO, what a ride!
Whats the problem Gix?
Donate – Or Imperial Data will have you sorted!RadarModeratorWelcome to the site GG. Nice bike.
How well does it go/handle/brake etc?
Had it long?
Donate – Or Imperial Data will have you sorted!RadarModeratorGood advice from both Gix and Kat there. The weak spot on my 86 FZ was the brakes. You can uprate to the wheels and calipers from the later 17″ front wheel model I think too.
In terms of setting up the valve gear the official interval is 28,000 miles. I had mine checked at a dealer with 40,000 miles on the clock and they harldy needed touching. It is a fairly big job though, so I would buget in the region of £150 or so, but you should get a full engine service for that too.
I will try and post a piccy of my FZ over the weekend.
I sold it in 2000 and still miss the stonking engine in particular. Still see her aboput every now and again. Well over 50,000 miles on the clock and still looking good last time I saw it.
