great link with some useful tips!!
mcmickypParticipantThanks for the advice, i think i will attach my battery charger lead to the battery (fused) and then plug Tom Tom lead into the connector and hope for no sparks!!
I am going on the trip by myself (no mates with time/money/bottle!!). Luggage is a Kriega US 40 tail pack and a 15l tank bag..Tiny tent, sleeping bag and Michelin maps have been purchased as well as some Hood Kevlar jeans (with Knox armour) for when it is roasting!!
Your bike looks trick!!! Maybe get a sports bike next year or a sports tourer..My neck is like Arnies from riding 2 nakeds in a row (last bike was a Street Triple..6500 miles in 10 months!!).
I am friends with radar (met him in spain last year) and he told me how to post photos, but have still not worked it out yet!! I lack pateince, intelligence and am a technophobe!!!mcmickypParticipantFZ looked ace!!
mcmickypParticipanthave just bought a Tom Tom rider V2 for my July Tour -France, Germany, overnight train, Italy, France, italy, Austria, overnight train, Germany, France then home on my 09 Honda CB1000R (yes i am excited). Fitted Tom Tom very easily..not sure about the power cable..does it wire straight onto the battery? Does it have to be fused?? Feel a bit dim on this one..Any guidance would be much appreciated!!
mcmickypParticipantno idea, however, for me ‘once bitten twice shy!!
mcmickypParticipantRadar, i have loads of pics of various bikes to post, but cannot work out how to do it yet!
Honda update!!Dealership has sold 6 CB1000R with same hugger..mine is the second failure!! Issue with the design (DO NOT FIT A SKIDMARX HUGGER TO CB1000R) The expanding tyre has caused a vacuum with the hugger causing issue. Bike will be back tomorrow in ‘mint’ condition.. All fixed by Honda, new tyre etc etc. To quote ‘you wont have to pay anything’ bloody right I wont!!!
What a weight off my shoulders??
Cant wait for the weekend!!
Any ride outs this weekend Radar??
MichaelmcmickypParticipantThanks for all of the response!!
Hondacare picked the bike up this morning..the recovery guy knew the dealership and said they were good guys..i will call them in the morning and see what they say and keep you posted!!
The rear tyre is a mess and he said that they would be negligent NOT to replace..I just want my baby back so that i can go and ride it this weekend..hope to see you again soon Radar!!
ThanksMichael
mcmickypParticipantwill find out in the morning..bare in mind the bike was brand new..i am looking at them fitting the hugger incorrectly..Surely a Honda main dealer has a ‘duty of care’ to sell safe bikes??
mcmickypParticipant7 MORE DAYS AND MY STREET TRIPLE ARRIVES..I have ONLY been waiting for FOUR months..
mcmickypParticipantCan anyone recommend breakdown cover for bikes (ie RAC/AA/Green Flag). Is there one in particular that caters for bikes the best..Thanks…
mcmickypParticipantDefinately..I look forward to seeing you again..
mcmickypParticipantI am picking up my street triple on the 26th!!!!!Cant wait!!!!!
mcmickypParticipantRadar, no news about Street Rtiple yet..It is a glorious morning and i wish i could go out on my bike.. I got my new car last week, took it for a spin down to Brighton and found a great 120 mile loop which I shall ride with relish on the Street.. Hope all is well with you and Mandy. How do I put pictures onto the site? (I am analog dont forget).
I have got wanderlust already..I fancy the states in september.Do you know anyone who has been ridng over there??
Hope to see you soon!!mcmickypParticipantI thought the tour was great value..I spent 9 nights there and had 7 days riding..very good value..would of been more if we had hammered it with the orrible ex-pats in naffville.
My flights were £100 return..mcmickypParticipantExcellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
