Great pictures, that rear tyre is a tad on the aggressive side!!
it came with the bike
It's a bit bobbly on tarmac at low speed, but stops any tendency to aquaplane….I will have to blag a go and see what you mean!
Any time – you'll get hooked

Thanks – it's the perfect bike for the Forest potholes!
elessimoParticipantI’ve been on the Friday for the last 3 years – well worth it.
However this year i’m back to working on Fridays and have no holidays left, so won’t be going this time.
If I was given a ticket I’d be looking out for the Yam 700 Adventure bike and the latest CCM product…..
elessimoParticipantI like plans!
Me too, I will have chat with the troops and see what spring 2019 brings!
Well, I’m up for it!
elessimoParticipantIn the (hopefully) near future, I may be getting myself a small cc bike that will kinda “do it all”, be ace if we could do a dirty visit…. with a salad or somit too?
Good call – I’m loving my ‘less is more’ biking
Definitely up for another trip to Salop – and the salad & somit sound mandatory
elessimoParticipantLooks great, really looking forward to seeing it. Outs me in mind of Toggsy’s Honda that you liked so much.
Are you going back to Adventure Ride in Shropshire with it?
Would love to go back to Shropshire (it’s where I got the DR) – it’s pretty cheap at Adventure Ride with your own bike.
First I’ll take it up some trails to see how the gearing is; also got to sort the fuelling – it’s running a tad rich….elessimoParticipantAwesome stuff, the engine in those is bullet proof as well!
Hoping so!
The exhaust started popping a bit when the engine warmed up, so I’ll have to remind myself how to adjust the carb jets to make it run leaner….
Long time since I used an old-style fuelling system
First ride out on it will be Wednesday evening to the Gamekeeper pub at Five Acres – very close so I’ll have to find a long way roundelessimoParticipantWish I had seen your ‘off’….you certainly do them with a certain sense of style and panache!
I do seem to have perfected the ‘parachute roll’ style of falling off when off-road, whatever the speed. It does mean that I always end up on my feet, even when I’ve got turf jammed into my helmet ventilation :
During my first ‘off’ I noticed, midway through the first somersault, that my water bottle had launched itself out of my rucksack pouch – I managed to grab it as I rolled past during the second somersault so ended up with it in my hand. Bob was following: he asked if I’d been drinking from it while swapping ruts . I had to explain that even with two hands on the bars I’m not particularly good on mud….
elessimoParticipantGreat report, Radar!!
It was a hidden rut (though more like a tram-line) that caught me out at speed – though I did cross up ruts earlier in the muddy section, launching myself up the bank for a pre-crash training somersault… :
elessimoParticipantI will have to try and join you on least one of these Wednesdays. Be good to hit the old bike nights at Fladbury, Eversham etc too
Keep in touch – I’ll let you know when Ginger’s Big Night strays to the northern end of Gloucestershire….
elessimoParticipantDidn’t make Toddington, ‘cos I’ve just tonight joined a rival gang based in the Forest (including Tintern, etc.). Didn’t take photos ‘cos it was a rush to get to my local pub after an afternoon/evening tree-felling on the estate . So likewise, I did have a short but sweet ride out.
Going to have to get a little trail bike if I want to keep up with this gang – their pub meet-ups are every Wednesday, year round. Except if it falls on Xmas day, then apparently it gets shunted to the Thursday :.
So I’m looking for a DR350 with ice tyres
elessimoParticipantIt was a good sunset: I rode into the Forest version and ended up at the Royal Spring where I met up with my old pal Reverend James….
So I didn’t make the Biker Night at Toddington but I did join a different gang – based in the Forest of Dean, they do a different pub every Wednesday evening, all year round . Just what I needed to increase my local pub knowledge.
They just happened to be at one of my 3 local pubs tonight. A very friendly lot, they all seem to be multi-bike owners (with one guy having 15 currently, one has 9, etc.), with 2 REs, 2 Tritons, 1 Norton, 1 955i Tiger, etc. About 20 riders there – at least there was no queue for the bar!
That’s my Wednesday nights sorted then
elessimoParticipantI will try to make a least a couple of those, always good nights
Good – I’ll try to make the first one this Wednesday…..
elessimoParticipantQuote: “Stunning US spec Honda SL450 with a motor shared with the legendary CB450 ‘Black Bomber’. Cool SP370 too…when did you last see one?”
My last bike before the kids-induced-layoff was an SP370 – lovely little single that I regret selling almost as much as my first proper bike…
I heard they are a b@t@rd to kick start
Do the evening bike meets start again soon?
I never had a problem starting the SP, but then I was raised on kick starting old Brit bikes. Once got launched over the handlebars while attempting to start my A10 Super Rocket. Learnt to let go of the handlebars sooner….
The biker nights start this Wednesday (18th April)
