That Yam does look great. Is it burning or leaking oil?
May 29, 2012 at 7:46 pm #63266HippoDronesParticipantboth lol It drips when the engine is warm once the oil thins and according to a mate it seems to be burning a lil bit when I shut the throttle?
May 30, 2012 at 9:10 am #63267imperialdataKeymasterThat’s a cool looking bike Pete, loving the matching lid!
Does it handle OK?
May 31, 2012 at 4:15 pm #63268HippoDronesParticipantit is really lovely to ride, its brakes are rubbish and the rear shocks are way WAY too hard but it is so nimble it is a proper pleasure to ride. Matt (my old lodger) even said I corner on that no slower than I do on the Ducati! although this runs out of steam at 80 lol
The tyres are the limiting factor on corners but I really really love riding it. So simple yet so fun

May 6, 2013 at 4:10 pm #63272HippoDronesParticipantHave not updated this for a while it seems.
NOB was running really badly before I brought it back from Snotland, so bad it was totally unridable so it has been sitting unloved in the back of my garage waiting for me to sort it.
I ordered a few bits off ebay about 4 months ago I guess but only just got round to seeing if I could get it going properly and also stop the leaking oil.
The coils I ordered are the wrong bloody ones so that was a waste of money but the gasket set and carb mounting rubbers seem ok so far. Will possibly change the clutch plates too when I have it working.
I have started trying to sort the oil issue so a full top end strip down has been today’s fun:
To start with I lost the tank and seat unit
I tried to keep all the bits laid out methodically ready for the rebuild after
and then proceeded to sit on them and mess them all up lol
The base gasket is really baked on and it has taken me as long to strip the bike to here as it has so far taken me trying to clear the old gasket off, I still have loads to scrape off too. Anyone got any tips?
Once the base gasket is removed I’ll rebuild with fresh gaskets and torque it all down, throw in some fresh oil and flush it out. I need to also clean the carbs again and try to fit an inline fuel filter too. I need to investigate why the starter motor isnt working too, hopefully just a loose wire somewhere.
Once it is all running sweet again I shall throw an MoT and tax at it and get it sold.
May 7, 2013 at 10:53 pm #63273RadarModeratorSeems like a shame to sell it after all that work, but upwads and onwards I suppose!
May 8, 2013 at 6:26 am #63274HippoDronesParticipantI just don’t have room for it unfortunately, I really enjoyed the Motogymkhana we did the other day and if I am going to remain a 4 bike family then I’d like somit more suited to that
August 9, 2013 at 1:50 pm #63275HippoDronesParticipantJust sold this along with the Aprilia RSV forks and brakes, new owner is gonna graft them on along with some Ohlins rear shocks
August 9, 2013 at 3:17 pm #63276ses310ModeratorThat would be interesting to see

Yes it would, get them to post if you can.
Shame you had to sell, but you did enjoy this bike from the posts you have put on here.
The clear out continues!
