Sorry to hear about the job hunting. What do you do? I have lists of agencies for engineering work. I have had a bumpy 3/4 years myself!!

spent most of my time on high speed food manufacturing gear – form fill seal stuff, blast/plate freezing, cartonning etc etc….
also, factory services – refrigeration comps evaps condensers heat exchangers etc, air comps dryers etc, steam raising gear steam coookers, chemical dosing gear, water and effluent treatment so a bit of all sorts really. We are also multi skilled having done an electrical section as part of my apprenticeship, got 16th edition wiring regs etc. Anything from 24v control to the 200kw 415 3 phase motors and control gear im working on now. We also until recently used to do our own 11,000 volt tripping but thats been taken over by the yeb. Welding – arc and tig mainly here (stainless) but use a mig at home, turning, milling, oxy and plasma cutting, sheet metal work etc etc..

Thing thats holding me back at the minute is that although the company is shutting down, they wont give us a finish date and no-ones got their notice yet so if i leave i chuck over 30 grand redundancy away! so i cant even actually get another job so am trying to line up bits for next year, contracting mainly….

Seriously though, start working for yourself mate, can’t beat it. With your skills, you can’t fail.
