ktm 200 exc gear boxes

hello i recently purchaseda ktm 200 exc 2007.i am having problems with the gear selector.the gear lever does not return because the spring inside the gear box keeps moving into a position that means it is no longer under tension.because of this the gear lever does not return back up and the only way then to change gear is with your hand.has anyone else experienced similar problemss?if so i would be very grateful if someone could tell me why it is happening and how to fix it, thank you.
