Falling off in a straight line at 90 mph and never finding out why the tank-slapper occurred.
    Any ideas out there?

Hi NSX, welcome to the forum. Is your GS a shaftie?

As for your falling off, I can only think that you may have left a (very long) bungee tied between your waist and the garage door…..

    This was in 1979 !
It was the first 1000cc model with chain drive.

Someone MAY have tampered with it, at the pub that night, but I don’t know.
Just left to right lock, so vicious that it broke the lock stops and threw me down the road.
I was very lucky, because although everything I wore was scrap, I was unhurt, bar road rash, but the bike wore through the crankcases and spilled all it’s oil, bringing down two bikes following me.
The pillion of one bike, a Norton Commando, broke his leg badly in being stopped from 60 mph in 3 inches by my bike…poor sod…
