Did you know that under European law we don’t HAVE to mot test bikes in the UK but our government chooses for us to do it.

But under European law we do have to test cars etc this is why you will find a few differences & some confusion about what is & isnt testable on the 2 types of vehicle & why the mot does not mean the vehicle is roadworthy under the road traffic act 1988, a prime example is the number plate light mentioned in another thread, testable on a car etc but not on bikes & against the law to use either on the road without one  ???

It also explains some of the silly faults in the testing procedure, to my mind government officials have tried to transfer the car testing manual to bikes & not knowing a thing about bikes have failed miserably  ;)

I’m amazed that they didn’t include seatbelt testing for bikes!
