possibly an option, need to work out if paying for someone to make that will cost less or more than what I can sell the frame and v5 for.
I got my Dremel delivered today, so went out to attack a stubborn nut on the frame/suspension linkage that was being a pest…..
It remained a pest for about 45min of grinding away at it until this was all that was left of it….
It was in a right awkward place to get the Dremel to which is why it took so long, satisfying creating lots of sparks tho!
August 10, 2010 at 11:04 pm #60503katanaParticipantGood progress Pete. If you send me the stem and yokes and I’ll see what I can do for you if you like?
August 11, 2010 at 11:30 am #60504HippoDronesParticipantthankyou for the offer katana, much appreciated [] and I may take you up on that if the chap round the corner from my Dad’s is unable to help.
I have now got hold of a pair of Brembo callipers for the front, will only be using one of them to start with while I have the spoked wheels. Need to get a master cylinder that is suitable, the std Mito one may be up to the job tho so will probably try that before spending money on a replacement. Need to get new lines made up tho but will wait till I have the yokes attached and engine in before worrying about that.
I have just ordered some custom spacers for the front wheel so it sits in the middle of the spindle, not sure when they will arrive tho as only ordered them yesterday.
August 12, 2010 at 9:20 pm #60505RadarModeratorCheers Pete, looking forward to the next update. Hacve fun at BSB at Brands BTW??
August 14, 2010 at 12:36 pm #60506HippoDronesParticipantBrands BSB was wicked, I even managed to see some racing! lol
My mate was racing in the 675 cup and came 3rd in the wet and 4th in the dry in his class. His team mate is the championship leader at the moment in the under 30’s class and is totally kicking arse
August 16, 2010 at 5:55 pm #60507HippoDronesParticipantThe front wheel spacers arrived the other day, I thought I’d measured wrong but they fit pretty well except they made the internal diameter too large on one part so I need them to remake them.
These are the callipers I’ve brought:
Only gonna use the one calliper to start with. Need to get the 320mm disk from my cabin in Scotland before that can progress tho []
December 14, 2010 at 10:40 pm #60508HippoDronesParticipantWith partial sadness I am putting this project to bed, I can’t afford to do it properly and a half arsed attempt would annoy me. With a potentially wicked next road bike that will gobble up the track also on the cards I need to free up some money. I’m gonna rebuild the KTM, possibly back into an enduro rather than supermoto if I can sort a swap on a set of wheels. It is a shame to give up on it as I think once sorted it would have been a really fun little toy, but it is a money pit for not a lot of gain so goodnight KTMito, they were fun dreams…. maybe one day I’ll be able to do you justice []
December 14, 2010 at 11:05 pm #60509BigBenParticipantthats a shame Pete..but needs must dont it. you selling what you have of it or just hanging on for a rainy day in the future?
December 14, 2010 at 11:58 pm #60510HippoDronesParticipantWill sell the Mito bits that are left, got the frame/swing arm/tank/rad/V5 so should get £100 for that I’d imagine at least. The Aprilia RSV bits, I’m not sure on, I think I’ll prob keep the brakes at least, think the forks will sell ok, and the yokes too
December 15, 2010 at 12:25 am #60511imperialdataKeymasterSad to see this project dropped Pete but you’ve got plenty to keep you occupied!
December 15, 2010 at 4:20 pm #60512HippoDronesParticipantaye, too bloody much lol. Hopefully some time in the future I’ll be able to have a go at doing somit similar but not just now
December 17, 2010 at 12:04 am #60513RadarModeratorShame that you had to stop, but it is good learning for a future progress. Keep us posted on the rebuild of the KTM

I ended up having to stop, but I rebuilt the 300 and sold it on. I think it looked fantastic when it was finished but it would have been ace to have completed the original plan with the Mito frame etc.
