Sorry to hear about your misfortune Barmy. A speedy recovery to you and Dave
March 2, 2006 at 6:34 pm #45679imperialdataKeymasterOuch, bad news BC. Glad you’re both OK if a bit bruised and shaken. There’s not that many bikers (myself included) passionate enough to go through the winter months, so I’m surprised to hear Dave is thinking of giving it in altogether. Maybe the fairweather biking option is how you’ll end up, let’s hope so.
Hope you both have a speedy recovery.
March 4, 2006 at 5:03 pm #45680barmy_carmyParticipantWas thoroughly enjoying the ride till this happened was the first time in 3 months we’ve been out on bike, It was such an adrenalin rush. Yes we checked tyres before going out etc, The tyre has only done a few hundred miles. But we are very lucky to be here, as the Doc said in casualty that it’s truly amazing that the pillion, coming off at 60mph, usually is a fatal accident, that I got out of it without a single bone broken. It’s the first time in 40yrs that Dave has ever broken any bones coming off a bike. He is adamant bout giving up though.
March 4, 2006 at 5:06 pm #45681sidParticipantgive him time babe and dont push him to hard
when the bike season kicks in and he here’s them tearing up the road he may change his mindMarch 4, 2006 at 5:12 pm #45682barmy_carmyParticipantThis is what I’m hoping Lol!
March 9, 2006 at 1:01 pm #45683barmy_carmyParticipantDaves off to theatre in 10 mins, but now needs 2 pins in his ankle, and unfortunately now has osteo arthritis in that ankle. Not good cause thats his gear changing ankle. But I’m gonna think positive, we are both alive and still together and that’s what counts! Bone Specialist was amazed that with my spinal disability, that I never broke my back or any bones, he says usually it’s the pillion that comes off worse. Someone must be looking out for me!
March 9, 2006 at 1:06 pm #45684sidParticipantwe’re all looking out for you barmy there are options to modify dave’s bike if he decides to stay at it

March 10, 2006 at 7:15 pm #45687RadarModeratorHow did the op go BC??
March 11, 2006 at 11:57 am #45688Big_KatzParticipantbc hiya m8 i hope u n dave r recovering well.
hows ur back? and how did daves op go.March 12, 2006 at 4:00 pm #45689barmy_carmyParticipantDaves had the op and is now back home, but only has a thin plaster on cause in 2 weeks he goes back for another Xray then they’ll put a full plaster on. But what amazes me is that he wasn’t given a pair of crutches[!] He is suppose to be non weight bearing on the ankle. Trouble is with arthritis hands, wrists and elbows, would find it hard on crutches, he’s alright for downstairs, cause he uses my electric wheelchair and we have a stairlift, but when he gets upstairs to go to loo or bed, he has to weight bear cause he’s got nothing to aid him to walk. Flippin stupid…could cause more damage! And of course I’m running round after him, cause of no extra help, which in turn is slowing my recovery. Am gonna be getting onto GP tomorrow, he is usually very helpful![]
Dave is adamant bout giving up biking, but he told me to tell you, thanks very much for all your well wishes, and that he will always be a biker at heart. Come summer we hope to get up to North Wales for a few days, if any of you are near enough do you want us to give you a shout? Perhaps come and see us, cause would love to meet all of you![^][:p]March 12, 2006 at 4:25 pm #45690RadarModeratorSounds good to me BC!
