I headed out on a pleasantly mild day considering it is meant to be the middle of winter to take in the New Years Day Meeting being held at my local Hill Climb circuit, the world famous Shelsley Walsh. Notable for being the oldest active motor sport venue in the world
Obviously it was my first outing on a bike this year; I got it in early and on a glorious day I really enjoyed riding the twisting Worcestershire lanes that lead to the circuit. Once there I walked the hill, and had a look around the stunning array of classic and sporting cars that had rocked up for the morning. Everything from prewar heavy weights such as a couple of Railtons through to more modern sports cars such as a brace of Ferrari 458s. I met a charming couple who were admiring my poor old 550 even with the more glamorous tin all around it! A good way to kick off 2019!
The ZR with some glamorous company…an AC Ace and Ferrari 458
One of the glorious Railtons
Poised to go, but on foot up the hill today…bikes do compete here, but it is a tight and very unforgiving course…
This section is really tough
It's a decent walk up the slope especially in bike gear, but the views are worth it
Some of the other cars thereI really must drive or ride this hill one day
