If you dont know you aint had fun on a bike
s/m bikes are fast dirt bikes 45/50 bhp 120 or less kilos
150/160/60/17 rear tyre 120/60/17 super stickys massive front brakes
big wide rims minimum of every thing apart from fun tottaly unpracticul but soooo! much fun.
ace bikes race on dirt and tarmac same track speeds up to 100 mph.
you must have a meeting near you at sometime this year and you must goI wanted one before but now I think I want one more. Nice description Cookeye.
What advantage do the wide rims give you (apart from the larger tyre contact area hence grip?). Always thought this was more ‘pose value’ than functional.

Imperial data if you have ever tried to bye race tyres or real soft road tyres in 18 or 21 inch you will understand why we use fat 17s
i have never raced not brave to old not fit but love my bike on the road exelent out in the rain when fitted whith dunlop race wets loadsof tread and look road leagle but only last about 300 miles[:0]

Cleared it up a bit for me m8. Only 300 miles from a tyre though. Sheesh, that’s an expensive bit of biking.

Supermotos are really fashionable in Japan where I go back regularly. Each time there seems to be more of them. Bright colours are the most fashionable at the moment with fluorescent tanks and wheels. Most engine sizes are small because of silly government tax to pay but they look so cool. I will take photos next time.

Supermoto riders tend to move a bit fast m8, you’ll need to have a quick shutter speed on your camera to catch one!
I started racing an SM a couple of weeks ago…only 1 way to describe it…awesome.
I bought a new Husaberg last week and rode it back to back with another bike I picked up at the sametime, after I got off the’berg I was shaking it was the only bike I’ve ridden which really gave me a buzz right from the start. I then rode the other bike and it felt tame by comparrison…what was it ….an ex bsb ZX7RR bored out to 793cc it
I believe you but I rode a stock ZX7 last year and it scared the life out of me! Is the riding style different when you jump on a supermoto, ie do you want to pop wheelies and do stoppies all the while, or are they usable bikes?
Don’t ask me to define ‘usable’.

ps you can afford it just do itI just use mine for what it was intended for – hooning around on tarmac and dirt. Don’t like doing the hooligan thing, I’m too damn well-behaved for that stuff……
They are insane around go-kart tracks. I’ve been on three now, none of them bigger than 1100 metres long, so mostly 2nd and 3rd gear all the way round. Really, really hard work, and everything will hurt the next day, but what a laugh![^]
