It is definatly a HRC box, the guy I had it off now has it and reckons it maybe something to do with shims or something a it won’t fully disengage the gears.
It has turned into a bit of a headache! He reckons he is going to sort it then send it me back so hopefully it will all be back together soonses310ModeratorHaving a bit of a nightmare, I had to source a new gear selector drum as that was knackered. Now the gearbox that I got is different to the one thats come out. Between the guy I had the box off and the guy fitting it they think the new one is actually a HRC close ratio race gearbox from a British superbike which is slightly different.
I am now giving the engine and gearboxes to the guy I had the gearbox off and see if he can sort it.ses310ModeratorIt is a shame, a fully kitted workshop would be very useful!
Everything is being changed, all gears, shafts and selector forksses310ModeratorDropped the engine off today and should have it back thursday or friday
Then hopefully start putting it all back together the weekendses310ModeratorWell the engine is now out
Many thanks to Radar for the help.
Honda do not like to make things easy!
Now to get the engine off to the guy thats fitting the gearbox then the joys of putting it all back together!ses310ModeratorI’m in mate
ses310ModeratorOh dear, some expensive repair bills there !
ses310ModeratorOk let me know then. I am hoping my mate will decide to do it by then but if not will start taking it out.
ses310ModeratorNone as yet, have got the gearbox. A friend of mine is supposed to be doing it for me but seems to be dragging his feet so its still sat in the garage.
The other option I have is to take the engine out myself and there is the head mechanic at a Kawasaki dealer that will fit the box for £80. Not sure if I fancy taking the engine out myself though.ses310ModeratorLoving the glassed!
Great post as usual mate
ses310ModeratorDamn, it was pretty funny too
ses310ModeratorThats pretty interesting, bet it takes these bumpy roads well !
ses310ModeratorWell the guy I have had the gearbox off said he would buy the good bits back off me as he has a few spares and with my bits could possibly make a whole one again.
Will see whats up with mine when its outses310ModeratorYep agree with Champs, did about 1500 miles on mine before I sold the bike and there was loads of tread left and not squared off
ses310ModeratorKeeps jumping out of 4th and now won’t actually go into 4th. Have done a bit of research and it seems pretty common so need a new box I think
