    Hey all :)

I’m new to The Bike Forum, as am I new to bikes.
I just bought a 2004 Yamaha TW 125, but I’m having problems with it:
When I press the starter button, there’s a loud (and I mean REALLY loud) screaming/screetching noise comes from it, even if I only tap the starter button, though I’m not certain it’s coming from the starter itself.
Does anyone know what may be causing this? And if there’s a solution to it?

    Many thanks in advance!

    Luke

sounds like the starter or the gear it drives

    Thanks,
I had a look at the starter, and the staft seems a bit stiff to turn, so I’ll dismantle and lubricate it.

    Cheers,
    Luke

when i bought my salvage Zx10r i had the same problem. itd obviously been stood a while so i took the starter off, took it apart and lubed all the gubbenry up inside so that will more than likely solve said problem. when sticking it back in make sure your gears match back up otherwise u can nip a tooth off, n dab a spot of grease on them to help line up.
